Your New Career Opportunity Is Calling

If you are like me, you might be feeling the pain. The turmoil of the past decade is taking its toll on your career, your finances, and your lifestyle. And you most likely are searching for a way to get back in the game and restore the lifestyle of your dreams. However, the days of staying with one company for your entire career are over. With frequent layoffs and downsizing, there are very few jobs that have a secure status. As a result, a new generation of entrepreneurial-minded people are emerging and starting their own business. They, like me, are back in the game and on the road to creating a better life for themselves and their families by taking control of their income and the way they spend their time. How are they doing this, you ask? In the US alone, over 16 million people are building their own home-based business using network marketing. The retail sales connected with this industry are nearly $30 billion in the US alone. Having spent many years in the corporate workforce, including over 20 years (a majority of them as a Consulting Partner) with Deloitte (a Big 4 Accounting and Consulting Firm), I have noticed that the concepts and techniques of network marketing are the same as those used in the corporate world to develop and grow customer relationships. In the corporate world, the term relationship marketing evolved and it focuses on ensuring your customer’s success as it ensures your success. So, for the rest of this blog post, I will use relationship marketing to describe what many in the direct marketing industry refer to as network marketing. Relationship marketing for the entrepreneur and small business owner allow the individual to build their business on their own terms. It is a business model that turns a business into a reality without the financial demands associated with typical startups. It is clear that a relationship marketing business is making a significant impact on the economy and provides the potential to earn real money. Millions of families using earnings from their home-based businesses to make their monthly car payment, take family vacations, send their children to private schools, or afford little luxuries like dining out with friends. The money they earn each month, whether it is $100, or $1,000 or $10,000 makes a big difference for many families. Many home-based business entrepreneurs run their businesses from the kitchen table, from a home office, or from a hotel at the beach or in the mountains. It is really a business that can be operated from anywhere. When an individual starts a relationship marketing business, they agree to be affiliated with certain products or services from a merchant and represent these items to the marketplace. The company providing the products or services provides training, marketing literature, and an abundance of support. In most cases, no inventory is required which equates to tiny startup costs. Many relationship marketing business owners, especially those from the corporate world, view their business as an opportunity with unlimited earnings potential. They realize they can increase their chances for unlimited earning potential so they invest time and energy into attracting customers, selling their products or services, and building teams (for leverage business model purposes and residual earnings potential). However, the beauty of a relationship marketing business is that it allows an individual to build their business on their own terms. Relationship marketing businesses upend traditional employee / employer earning models where employees are paid for their time. The individuals in the relationship marketing businesses are not employees, they are self employed; they are their own boss! As such, they set their schedules and have the freedom to adjust their schedule as necessary. The differences are even more significant when it comes to earnings. Relationship marketing includes the promotion of products or services by the distribution of intellectual capital and advising or consulting with leads, or potential customers, as to why the product or service is a solution to their problem. This type of consultative selling can tap into two main avenues of income. The first way to generate revenue is from the sale made directly to the lead who, as a result of your solutions consulting, has determined the product or service is indeed a solution to their problem. As a result of your efforts, the lead decides to purchase the product or service and becomes a customer for life. As mentioned earlier, your customer’s success ensures your success. The second way to generate revenue is as a result of recruiting new business partners to the company. Many times, a merchant with a product or service decides to not spend a large amount of money on building a sales force and even more money on advertising their product or service. Instead, they chose to go to market using relationship marketing business model and rely on affiliates to spread the word about their product or service. The money the merchant did not spend on setting up a sales force and did not spend on advertising, is paid as commissions to those business owners that attract new partners that also become affiliates of the business. As the teams grow, the earnings potential increases as a result of the higher commissions that are generated. In the corporate and business world, this phenomena of economics is referred to as growing the pie; as the pie grows, so too does the earnings potential. My own advice is for individuals to establish a relationship marketing business and use online marketing techniques and tools to create a life of success. It may take a while however learn to use various Internet marketing and promotion methods and tools. Setup and follow a traffic formula to build relationships with leads and customers. Build websites that create trust. Collect name and email addresses using an Optin form on a Landing Page. Use email systems with both auto-responders and broadcast capabilities in order to send messages to your leads and customers. In these email messages, send information, provide knowledge, and occasionally promote an offering. Understand that leads and customers do not like to be sold to however they will browse, they will shop, and they will buy an item that meets a need or is a solution to their problem. By using the Internet to market your products and drive sales, you will be using the key tactics you need to succeed in the new economy. It is clear the next Industrial Revolution is upon us and it is indeed happening online. The Internet is the new global stage for the modern symphony of commerce. Those that learn how to leverage this most powerful of platforms will be its conductors; and they will make music, and money, at the same time. Many high profile business leaders, including the Oracle of Omaha, suggest that if you don’t focus on being an online entrepreneur, being self-employed, or being a small business owner, it will be a very tough road in the months and years ahead; actually they say, it will be an uphill battle. This suggestion is attracting current and former doctors, CEOs, and other members of the corporate workforce that are seeking a way to leave their established and lucrative careers. They are in pursuit of new opportunities in the world of Internet Marketing so they can generate income, prestige, independence, and financial rewards that exceed the levels obtained by most in their previous careers.
