Home Based Business Strategies

Home businesses or home based businesses are the fastest growing industry of our era. There are very good reasons why home business has become the fastest growing form of business:

1. Technology allows for anyone to be as productive at home as they are at an office

2. Independent action using technology can multiply effectiveness

3. Time has become irrelevant in the execution of business tasks

4. Home is no longer the haven from business, it is a facilitation point

The technology that has overtaken modern society is the Internet in all its ramifications communicating with the computer and the cell phone. Portability of both the computer and cell phone allow anyone to work from virtually anywhere there is a signal; at work, at home or somewhere else. The issue here is not if the technology exists, the issue is if you have the temperament to learn how to use the devices and systems the technology provides. Some of us use enough technology to "get by" and others are in constant upgrading of their devices and systems. For purpose of your home business the technology required cannot exceed your skills or you will spend more time on the technology than the business.

Working at a home business that employs some technology will give you the leverage you need to support your business success. The key is to let someone else develop and maintain the technology so you can spend your time using the technology to make money. The simplest form of using someone else's technology is email, all you need to do is know how to type. You don't need to know how it works just that it works. Even if you are retired, don't take the time to learn too much technology or you'll find your time disappearing into your computer.

Back in the day we all had to go to work at the same time to get things done, we had to work on a synchronous basis. Today communications allows us to work on an asynchronous basis, not all being at the same place or working on the same task at the same time - the perfect condition for a home business. You can communicate with others on your schedule, be that at ten in the morning or ten at night. And, the best part of a home business is you can be in your bathrobe and nobody cares.

Your home used to be the place where you would get away from work. Now our homes are the nerve center where we can run our businesses and get away from it all. As our homes have become "wired" we can be in contact any time with anybody - or not. It's our choice and our home business opportunity.

The Best Business Books Ever: The 100 Most Influential Business Books You'll Never Have Time to Read - this is a fascinating book about the history of Business theory, and I'd recommend it to anybody. 2. The Big Book of Small Business: You Don't Have to Run Your Business by the Seat of Your Pants, by Tom Gegax. Ditto. 3. PADI: The Business of Diving Book Okay, so this book won't be of use to anyone who doesn't want to start a scuba store, but I did, and this book was of course invaluable to me in reaching that goal.
