Five Smart Steps To Online Internet Business Investments

The economy is in rough shape, everybody knows that. Unfortunately, many people think that, because of the recession, that they should be satisfied to just make ends meet. In fact, the opposite is true. It is exactly because of the recession that people should be trying to get ahead. In an era of record layoffs, there are few better times than to have the security of self-employment with an online internet business. Here are five steps to success.

Learn How To Learn

When we say that you need to get an education before you start a business, we don't need that you need to apply for the Harvard School of Business. In fact, if you can afford the tuition, you may as well just retire. Rather, check out online courses and seminars. Everything you really need to know about running a business can be learned without a master's degree.

Start Small

The best way to get started is with a zero-dollar startup. Don't think this is possible? Go to one of those online print shops and upload that cool picture you made for your desktop awhile back. Now if just one person buys that t-shirt (and you could even show it to a friend and ask if they'd buy it to do you a favor), you're officially a small business owner. All you need is to sell that one shirt, and now you can take the markup you made, even if it's not even enough for a fast food lunch, and invest it. Spend it at a garage sale or flea market on a collectible, sell that on an auction site, and just keep rolling that money into more and more business options.

Look Into Marketing

When selling goods and services online, your job is really ten percent business management and ninety percent advertising. Luckily, web marketing is so cheap it's almost free, but, because of that, it's also incredibly competitive. You need to figure out what you can do to get the attention of all the surfers online before your competitors get to them.

Expand and Grow

Whatever you made from your small business, put that money into something bigger. There are a lot of industries that prove to be nearly foolproof in terms of online sales, but most of them do involve some startup cost. But, the idea is to not spend any of your own money getting started. Make money from one business, and use it to build another one.

Diversity

After you have one business going, start another one. Many of the most successful online entrepreneurs do not, in fact, make a living entirely on a single business. Rather, they have a trickle of cash coming in from several businesses. This way, if one has a slow month, the others might be doing well enough to cover for it.

Study Liability, Taxes and Legality

Liability, legality, taxes, licenses, permits... There's a lot of red tape and a lot of legal jargon you need to study if you don't want to get audited, fined, or even sued. For example, many online vendors refuse to sell baby products simply because of the steep liability that comes with it. Be careful, and know that the more money you make, the bigger a target you are for lawsuits, fines and fees.

There are many lessons from my childhood which have served me well through my life,
but none better than being willing to learn new things, embrace change, and roll up my sleeves
for some good old fashioned hard work.

Hi, my name is Robert Hathhorn.
My first online 'opportunity' involved buying leads and placing classified ads, and I learned very
quickly that this was a dead end street. The most important lesson from that experience was that the most successful people online know how to generate their own high quality leads.
I could see that with the right education, it was possible to build a business on the Internet and the possibilities for growth were huge.
So I went looking for a way to learn how to market professionally online. The focus was on improving skills and delivering quality and value. And my lifetime of experience in business told me that this was the only way I wanted to build an enterprise of my own online.
It is a new frontier that is growing by the minute, but I know that to be successful online, you have to roll up your sleeves and learn the skills to attract the attention of prospective customers and business partners.
If you also find yourself looking online for ways to build a business of your own, and take control of your finances and your life, take this lesson from me...
Do your due diligence, ask all the hard questions and above all else, make sure you are entering in to an opportunity where you will be taught how to market on the Internet in a professional way. Online business is not so different to offline; it is all about the value and honesty you bring to your market.

Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? - Hi Kevin, I have to agree with Tanny. All forums are unique in their own way, but doesn't mean that one is better than the other. What you might get out of one forum, you may not get from another. For instance, the WF focuses on Internet Marketing, while this forum focuses on Entrepreneurship. Each has their own set of benefits. I don't think you can really compare one to the other, unless of course they focused on the same topic. I have learned a lot from this forum, stuff I would never have gotten from the WF. With that being said, I've learned a lot from the WF, specifically since I need to know about Internet Marketing and running an online business. The addition of the Online Business forum here will help, and Jeff is doing a great job as moderator.

I don’t know about b2b marketing but I have done marketing so know things about it. I will suggest you to take online services which will spread your business all over web network. Online marketing is the best way to market any business.[/quote:428owzbi] B2B = Business to Business - You are marketing to other businesses. B2C = Business to Consumer - You are marketing to consumers.
