You can definitely improve your standing in Twitter if you re-tweet. When one of your followers posts an appealing article, you can re-tweet it. If you do this, most of your followers will also do the same. Just imagine all your followers re-tweeting. When they add your username to their updates, you will be exposed to many users. Be careful in re-tweeting because you might not be posting interesting or helpful topics. Make sure that you re-tweet only the good ones. How can you re-tweet? You need to copy the original tweet and write the prefix RT together with the name of the originator.

Many users use Twitter to post tweets that no one is interested about. Who cares about what you ate for dinner or what you did last night. Perhaps your closest friends will appreciate that but what about the rest of the social community? It would be better if you send out informative tweets, no nonsense. Use the tool Twitpic to upload pictures to your profile page. Try to upload as many pictures as you can but choose your pics well. Your pictures can tell a lot about you and other users will appreciate. Through the pics, your followers can get to know you better. According to expert tweeters, pictures can tell a lot about you as compared to the posts to send.

Re: New man with Twitter Studies - Tweeter is still in its infancy and is still by and large an unknown beast. There have been some great pieces of advice in this post and I agree that your Tweeter posts will get a bigger response if as GT says you give something back or invoke a response from your readers. On Tweeter we should ask ourselves how we respond then maybe we can better understand how others will respond. When we get a personal message in our inbox from a Tweeter member do we always open it ?. When we go on our home page do we look at our inbound messages and how many do we open and then respond to if we do open them. It is all about creating an interest in what you have to offer and as yet I am still not convinced about the ratio of members to responses but like anything else in this business it is always about trial and error and more than that, time management. If something isn’t working then think again. In response to your reply GT, I know there is a way to repeat your tweets at intervals but I can’t recall how, can you remind my fuddled mind, LOL, regards, Mal.
Re: Twitter Woes.... Whats slowing you down? - Hi Dallasberry, I must admit it took me a while to warm to the whole concept of social networking. It seemed that some people were using this as one way traffic for their business adverts and Tweeter is very much like this. It is for social interactions and relationship building first of all and if business follows as a result then great. I agree with GT that Tweeter disciplines you to be brief with the 140 character limit but I quite like that part of it. The other side of the coin is that you can’t force people to read your tweets no matter how good an offer or service you are sending as you have to log on and look for messages which a lot of people just don't do so I am still not convinced of it's value as a business building tool but time will tell, regards, Mal.

Re: Using Twitter To Double Your Traffic? - I'm sure in many cases Twitter sends more traffic than Search Engines because most people don't have good enough SE rankings to get SE traffic. But anyone can get Twitter traffic. The problem is that Twitter traffic won't convert for the most part and SE traffic will. I'd venture to say that 98% of the time getting just 100 visitors from search is better than getting 2000+ from Twitter.
