Here are the most important things you will need if you want to work from the comfort of your own home.

1. Time to work - It is important to set aside time each day for working your new business. If you don't find time to work every day, even if it is only for 20 minutes a day, then you will never achieve success.

2. Commitment - There will be many obstacles in your way to achieving success working out of your home. You will find ways to get over or around each of these obstacles if you just have a commitment to make your business a success.

3. Ability to get things done - You won't have a boss to tell you what to do or when to do it anymore. This means that you have to have the ability to get things done without someone looking over your shoulder to ensure it gets done.

4. Hard work - Being willing to work hard is going to be a big benefit to you and your success. Building a business is not going to be easy, but with hard work it will be well worth the time spent achieving it.

5. Knowledge - There will be a lot of things that you don't understand about working out of your own home. In order to succeed, you have to take the time to learn everything and anything you need to know.

This means that you will have to go through a learning process and do things one step at a time. Gaining knowledge to succeed with working out of your home will be an ongoing process that is vital to your business success.

6. Marketing - This is one of the most vital things you need to know how to do. You can learn how by educating yourself on one method at a time. The more that you are able to market your new business, the more traffic you will receive, which means the more money you will be able to make.

These are the most essential thing that you have to have if you are serious about working at home online successfully. There are many other things needed, but if you have the above things, then you will be off to a really good start at achieving success.

Re: e-Commerce and e-Payment providers - When I came back to Japan in 1999 I sometimes used to ask my students if they would buy anything on the Internet and at that time most thought it was too risky. I'd encourage them to try by using well known sites such as Amazon.co.jp and also pointed out that using a credit card on a reputable site was safer than using it at a restaurant. I can't remember the last time I had that discussion or when the "tipping point" occurred in Japan. To answer your other question, I use Paypal for several reasons: 1. Brand familiarity 2. Easy to use 3. Free to withdraw 50,000yen+ to my Japanese bank account - a huge benefit (but maybe other systems also offer that...?) 4. Easy to cancel subscriptions On the down side, their transaction fees are quite costly, they are difficult to contact and when disputes arise you can sometimes lose even when you can prove via your tracking service that the disputed item was "delivered" to the customer's address!

Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff
