Today more than ever the success of any business relies on good marketing.

The ingredients to creating a successful business are products and someone to buy it. The more important of the two is having someone to buy it. You could have the best product in the world but if you don't attract any customers you will not sell your product.

The internet is now proving to be the fastest and most effective way of marketing. The potential audience it can reach is huge providing that you get your marketing strategy right.

Below are some tips on how to get traffic to your website

1. Build a website

Having a good website is important as you need to hold on to your customers once you drive them through to your site. If your website is not appealing , the customer will quickly leave and you will have lost the opportunity to sell to them. Often it is better to outsource this as the experts will be able to create your website quicker and more effectively ensuring that you are ready to trade sooner.

2. Get your website noticed. Get your website on the front page of Google

It is vital to get your website on to the front page of Google as statistics show that most people won't go beyond the front page. It is also important as concentrate on Google as it is currently the dominant market leader achieving 85% of the daily search results.

To get on to the front page you will need to appoint someone to carry out SEO (search engine optimisation) on your website. This is very important as this ensures that the best keywords and links are on your content pages in order to drive the best traffic to your website. Again, if possible it is better to outsource this work but if you cannot afford to do this, there are many training packages available that can help you to carry out the SEO yourself. Google is like a giant library and SEO effectively puts a shiny cover on your website and places it on the best shelf to sell.

There are two types of SEO namely organic which appear on the left hand side of the page and are free and paper click which appear on the right hand side of the screen which is paid advertising.

3. Create links to your website

The internet is like a giant spider's web. The more links that you can create the more ways there are to navigate back to your website.

Content and links open up avenues. At the beginning if funds are in short supply there are many free methods of advertising on the internet.

Social media marketing is becoming an increasingly popular free method of promoting your business. Face book, twitter and foursquare are a particularly effective means of free marketing.

Others ways include blogging, enlisting with the various on line directories, writing articles or releasing press releases. All are effective ways to promote your business for free.

4. Video Marketing

One of the most effective ways to get your website noticed is through video marketing. U tube has become bigger than Google and can provide a higher ranking. Again it is important to ensure that you create the best quality video and include the best keywords to promote your business or product. Many people prefer to view videos as they like to put a face to the business or person that you are promoting.

Justin Beiber is a prime example of how powerful video marketing can be. A top marketing company came across his video and offered him the opportunity to get it ranked higher. He has since gone on to become a great success.

All on all to get your website noticed you need to ensure that you have a good quality website and that you get your website on to the front page of Google.
