Want a new career? Cop out, Hold out, Drop out or All out which one are you?
Do you ever feel that you have lost your soul? Well rest assured you are not the only one. There are millions of people all over the world who dread the alarm clock ringing each morning.
A recent study of employed office workers highlighted that the most demoralising fact among frustrated employees was knowing that they would probably have to work until they were 69 before they could even consider retirement.
Long working days, jammed printers, unproductive meetings, pointless training as well as dysfunctional equipment and technology were the leading causes for complaint amongst staff.
Seventy per cent of office workers also admitted judging colleagues on their work etiquette especially those who were deemed unproductive by constantly surfing the web, using face book instead of working and the office gossips.
Office workers were also vexed by poor canteen food, meaningless perks such as dress down days and motivational speakers brought in to raise morale.
Many employers are demanding more time, energy, commitment and loyalty from employees than ever before for less salary. Many workers have even made up their own terms for certain things in work. Examples of these are:
"Dracula shift" which means going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark.
A "bog shaker" is having a private breakdown in the toilets.
A "Chinese holiday is faking the need for going to the toilet with a five minute break spent just sitting on a china latrine, head in hands.
A "Cashanova" is someone who brings in clients or business on charm alone.
Finally a "Mills and Doom" is an office romance.
Morale amongst staff is at an all time low due to various reasons with employees being too afraid to leave their jobs due to feeling insecure. Many say that they would leave their work if it were not for the recession and the fear of being unable to find an alternative means of earning an income.
It is true to say that there are, in life generally, four categories of person, namely:
The "cop outs"
These are people who do not have goals. They just want to remain the same and do nothing different to change their lives.
The Hold outs
These are people who would like to do more and have more but are afraid. They allow their fears to control them and never get started on the path to their dreams.
The Drop outs
These are people who get started but never finish. They do not keep their commitments. They have all the potential but no results because they make excuses time after time.
The All outs
These are people who achieve results and are successful. They stay focused on their goals and don't stop until they achieve their success.
We are all capable of being an "all out" sort of person if we change our mindset. For those of us who are brave enough to take the first step we can change our circumstances and achieve a better lifestyle.
If you are one of those employees who are fed up with plodding along day after day hoping that one day you will win the lottery then you need to take control of your life and make changes to create a better lifestyle and happiness. The skills that you have learnt within your current employment can easily be used in other careers which will provide better job satisfaction and more freedom of time to enjoy with loved ones.
In today's world there are many new and exciting opportunities available especially in the age of the ever popular internet. The internet now provides a global opportunity for everyone to succeed. There is no need for anyone to continue to stay in a mundane 9-5 job anymore. There are many opportunities available that can be successful in a recession and can create financial stability along with job satisfaction.
That is why more and more people are now deciding to leave their jobs and to start their own business. Home based business opportunities in particular are becoming more popular due to the fact that you can work flexible hours based around your own needs and not those of your employer. You also prosper yourself from your hard work rather than help to build up someone else's financial empire.
Working from home allows you to create more time to be with your family and takes away the stress and expense of commuting daily to work. You can even earn an additional income working from home while still working for an employer while you set up your business. Starting your own business only requires a small financial investment as often you already have the necessary equipment needed to start your own business namely a computer and a telephone. Internet businesses are a particularly good opportunity as they are generally regarded as being a recession proof business.
There has never been a better time to leave your employment and start afresh. There are lots of exciting opportunities to choose from that will help to restore your self worth and financially reward you. A new challenge will also help to re energise you which will help to improve your well being and create a better lifestyle.
