Why Opportunities To Work From Home Are Ideal For Working Mums

Your phone rings. You sneakily take your mobile out of your handbag without your boss seeing you. You are filled with dread as you see the school number displayed on your phone which usually means one thing... your child is ill and needs to be collected early from school. How are you going to be able to take time off at short notice especially when your workplace is already short staffed? Even getting time off with sufficient notice for school concerts or sports days proves difficult enough but asking to leave immediately is like asking for the impossible. Does this sound familiar?

Sadly this scenario is true to many women who struggle to juggle their working career with their family life. Even planning annual leave can be a nightmare as you try to beat the rush by booking your summer leave as soon as your new leave is allocated. It can be a complete nightmare and cause enormous tension.

But is there an alternative whereby you can successfully balance your working and family life without the stress?

Working from home can offer the perfect solution but where do you start?

Speak To Your Current Employer

Why not approach your current employer and ask whether there is a way that you could start working from home. More and more employers are now offering opportunities to work from home. Many are seeing the benefits of offering a more flexible approach for working mums. Often certain jobs can just as easily be completed at home, saving the employer money and offering women the opportunity to be work from home mums so it can be a win, win situation. You have nothing to lose by asking the question and everything to gain.

Turn A Hobby Into A Business

If your employer is unable to offer a work from home opportunity then why not consider turning a hobby into a home business opportunity. Often a simple hobby can easily be turned into a lucrative business.

For example if you enjoy making cupcakes or are creative and enjoy painting nails or even face painting why not turn your hobby into a business even if it involves in enrolling first of all for some additional training in your chosen field ,in order to become more of an expert. You could then set up a work at home business with a minimal cost of printing a few leaflets and investing in a cheap website if you decide to promote your business on line.

You could even make an income by writing and selling e books about your hobby. Chances are there are many other people who will also share the same interest as you and will happily pay to read more about that interest.

Become An Agent For Party Plans

There are many different companies who offer various working from home opportunities that can easily be worked around your family commitments. These work at home opportunities not only offer the perfect work from home jobs for mums but can also be great fun as they will give you the opportunity to meet lots of new people and can be a great way to socialise whilst making money at the same time.

Internet Marketing

Another great opportunity to become a work from home mum is by starting an online business. There are many different online business opportunities but be careful to carry out thorough research before committing to any of them to ensure that you choose the right opportunity for you. Even in the current economic downturn online businesses are thriving as they have such a global audience to sell to. These opportunities can provide the perfect work at home business for women whether it be to become a work from home mom in America or a mum wanting to work from home in the U.K, internet marketing offers huge opportunities across the globe.

Research has shown that women in particular can be more successful than men when starting an online business, as to be successful in internet marketing you need to be able to follow other successful people and copy what they do. Women are very focused in following advice and implementing what they are taught to do without questioning why, whereas men often want to know “why” they have to do something before they will actually implement what they need to do. This can often cause them to want to “reinvent the wheel” instead of just following the advice of their mentors.

All in all working from home will not be for everyone. Despite the constraints and difficulties faced by many working mums, many will still want the security of working for an employer and having a guaranteed wage.

However for those brave enough to take action, the personal and financial freedom that will come from that decision, will be immeasurable. No more dreading your child becoming ill or missing precious concerts or sports days. No more having to book leave ahead of your work colleagues. No more valuable time being wasted commuting to work...time that could be used instead to spend with loved ones, no expensive childcare to pay for and so the list goes on.

Taking action is what will allow you to live life on your terms and not on someone else’s terms. To me that is the greatest freedom of all. After all we only live once so why not have the best life possible?

Working for yourself means you are investing in your own future, not someone else's, although there is value in working for someone else first to gain experience and confidence. Working for yourself does not automatically mean success, fame and fortune. For most entrepreneurs, it takes much work and dedication to get to the point of financial success and comfort - sometimes years. But the benefit is, again, you know you are investing in yourself and building equity for your own future. GT :-]
Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff
