Are you “Panning” For Your Keywords?

Going back to California on January 24th, 1848 a strange but precious commodity was found, a commodity that was given the glorious name of "gold". Upon this discovery by James W. Marshall in Coloma California; the news traveled far and wide bringing roughly 325,000 people. These individuals that sought this life changing opportunity were given the name "Forty -niners" as they faced gruesome and sometimes life altering hardships just attempting to get to their destination. A destination in their mind that would bring them riches and life prosperity.

Recovery Was Pretty Easy At First

The name "gold" was on the tip of every persons tongue, from people all over the world ranging from China, Europe , South America and many more places; driving tens of thousands more "Forty-niners" into the town of Coloma. The gold was so abundant and easy to obtain they were able to use a very simple technique called "panning". As more and more gold was found it seemed they needed to figure out new and improved methods to extract this gold at a quicker rate, which led to more improvements and highly sophisticated ways of finding more gold.

What Is "Panning" Exactly?

Here are a few simple instructions on how to "pan"...

Step # 1 Figure Out Where The Gold Is....

There is no use in trying to pan for gold in a river or a stream that has no gold or where people have never found gold before. Gold stays at the bottom of the stream or the river because it is much heavier than water and it gets caught in the sand in areas that the current is very slow; areas like bends and on the shores of the stream. Another great place to look is around rocks and pieces of wood, small pieces of gold like to "hide" in these areas.

Step # 2 Stick it In

You will need a "pan" a 10 or 12 inch ribbed pan works wonderfully, now take about 3 handfuls of sand into your pan, stick the pan into the stream. You really want to submerse the entire pan in the water then start moving your pan in a slow circular motion and watch as the lighter materials get swept away with the current. WARNING: Moving your pan too rapidly will put you at risk of losing gold pieces along with the rocks and sand. Keep rotating your pan until you have noticed that half of your sand has been swept away in the current.

Step #3 Panning

Pull out your pan of the water and begin slowly swirling it around as you are slightly tipping to one side, as you lose all your water dip your pan back into the water and start the process all over. Keep doing this until all of your sand and rocks are gone.

Step # 4 The Extraction Process

Using extreme caution you want to sort through the rest of the materials in your pan, you may have some gold in there that you have worked so hard to find. You may only find one small fleck or maybe you did not find anything, don't get discouraged, it is a skill that takes practice, patience and persistence and the occasional lucky find.

This Is No Different Than "Panning" for Keywords

I know many people that have an internet business and one of the most tightly kept secrets is their "keywords" or "gold", while this really isn't a hard process to complete it is one that also takes time, patience, practice and sometimes a little luck.

Just like in Step # 1 - Find Out Where the Keywords Are -

There are a few tools that I use to find keywords, one that actually many people have found "gold" before....See I do not look for keywords that people have never found them before, I am just as you are, I traveled a long way, endured many battles and look for the same as you do.

Tools needed:

I am going to share with you a few tools that I use and one that is a very well known keyword provider.

Google Adwords Keyword Tool - now there are two versions to this tool; I personally like the older version better but everyone is a little different. This tool is one of the most powerful tools you can use to get information on specific keywords but this tool is strengthened by 10 xs with the other tools I am getting ready to tell you about).

WordTracker - this is a FREE Keyword suggestion Tool

SEO Books.com - This is also a FREE Keyword suggestion tool, but this one is a little more unique, this checks for misspelled words. ( You would be amazed on the amount of search that people fat finger the keys as they stroke them on the keyboard on a monthly/globally basis).

Keywordmixer.com - Another FREE Keyword suggestion tool that takes numerous keywords and jumbles them up for you and spits out keywords you may not have thought of.

Google Wonder Wheel - Another Free Tool that shows relevant keywords on a wheel

Google Search Bar - Obviously a FREE tool also - inserting a "keyword" in quotes in the search box will show you how many results come back - stay away from anything over 300,000 - it's a lot harder to find" gold"

Just Like Step # 2 - You need to take a handful of what keywords you are going to potentially target and insert them into the tools above and "swirl " them about and let go of the keywords that won't be gold.

You are not panning for "rocks" "dirt" "sticks" branches" "garbage" - why.....? Because everyone else has those... you are panning for your "gold keywords" - ones that are harder to find, ones that not everybody has, and ones that are truly a rare find!

Just Like Step #3 - Remove the keywords that are way to competitive, remove the keywords that will never rank on page one of Google, remove the keywords that will run your pay per click campaign amuck!

Just Like Step # 4 - Pull out the "golden keywords" - keep it close to your chest and don't even whisper the word - it will haunt you! Use this keyword and surround it with great content or a great pay per click campaign and watch your pennies start piling high!

Why Do You Have To Pan For Keywords?

Great Question - The internet has been filled with content and the world has been on an information overload for many years now, we are now in a time in our existence that we can have an answer to any question within seconds. The internet is evolving daily and the search engines like Google, Yahoo and many more have a job to do, and that is figuring out how to display all this information and when. Much of this is based on keywords that people type into the search boxes, at that point you obtain what they think is relevant.

With so much content out on the internet and millions more a day are being uploaded, some keywords are so saturated that there is no way you will ever rank on page 50 let alone page 1. You have got to use the tools above to "pan" for keywords that you can rank on page one or ones that are not saturated!

Warning: You may not find a "golden keyword" ever, you may find one within five minutes of using the tools of the trade, but I will let you in on a little secret - not using the tools, not "panning" and wishing for "gold" get's you nowhere!!!

Roughly seventeen years ago I began my career into retail, and had been with the same major retailer for the past fourteen years. I can remember starting out and I really had no idea what to expect or to do. To me it was a new company, new people, new rules, new expectations, new everything! How was I going to remember everything and prosper? I quickly learned who the leaders were and began observing and studying their responses to different situations. I have always had a strong internal feeling that I could do more: for other people and for my family. I have found this by joining a team that focuses on helping others obtain their dreams and becoming more in tune what really matters in life, our loved ones around us.

Scoping Your Articles for Ghostwriters Scoping Your Articles for Ghostwriters - Martin, can you advise your process for scoping out the work for article writing. specifically, 1. How do you scope the boundaries of the article? (is it by the Keywords?) 2. How many keywords do you provide to the ghostwriter for an article of a certain size? 3. How do you measure quality? (is it just your impression that the article is good)? 4. Who owns the article? 5. How do you know that this article is not published elsewhere on the Internet? Thanks
Re: Traffic! How do you get it? Re: Traffic! How do you get it? - I agree, [i:1z2pskgt]"The solution before getting traffic, is RESEARCH"[/i:1z2pskgt]. "Keywords" are the source of traffic and its completely true that we should do a bit of research before crafting an article. Now a days, i see like its quite easy to rank well for long tail keywords esp. on Google because of the "freshness" in serp. The newly indexed articles are placed above the older articles to show fresh content to the user. Its advantage too but the question is, how long you stay in top position ?
Keywords Keywords - Keywords in your URL are good, but you also need to include these in headings on your pages. If you were going to search Google for this content, what words would you use? What common words would people use in a search engine if they wanted to find your site? You don't need to overdo the headers, just add a couple to each page and especially on your home page to attract search engines. I think someone also mentioned listing your site in directories. This is good and make sure to list your site under beauty - this should attract people that want to find you. Trading links with sites is good and especially sites that attract the people you want to bring onto your site. Miss Shri
