Are you watching your Article marketing stats?

Guest post by: Robert Strong

Article Overview: On many article submission websites you have the ability to watch your article marketing stats. These stats tell you things like views, comments, and maybe a “thumbs up” for a great job. Unfortunately many people just throw an article together, submit it online and forget about it. I would like to educate you on a few thoughts that I have on article marketing and why you would want to watch your stats.

Are you watching your Article marketing stats?

On many article submission websites you have the ability to watch your article marketing stats. These stats tell you things like views, comments, and maybe a "thumbs up" for a great job. Unfortunately many people just throw an article together, submit it online and forget about it. I would like to educate you on a few thoughts that I have on article marketing and why you would want to watch your stats.

You build momentum over time

What is so awesome about article marketing is that besides your time, there is not a monetary cost involved, unless of course you outsource. As time progresses, your articles will be viewed again, again, again and oh yeah again at no cost to you. If you put in some great thought and preparation to your article you will reap the benefits for years and years to come. I cannot stress enough that investing ample time up front and an education on the subject you are writing about is a crucial component to your success. Do not just write an article just to get one out online before you head to bed for the night, just to say you got one published. You have got to take into consideration that you are the author and your name is on the article, your article is a direct reflection of you and your brand.

Think of your new article as a virtual assistant that is out and about on the internet mingling with future friends, business partners or customers. If you write a very well thought out article, you have the higher chance of really helping someone out. In helping others out, you continue to add value to others and their lives for a very long time.

Let the voting begin

Stats can be looked at as votes, the more positive votes, comments, views or tweets you get the better. In looking at stats, there are a few things that you want to take into consideration; the same things that I take into consideration with my articles. I look at two or three of my articles that were submitted within the same week and I compare their views; one may have 300 views were another may only have 50 views. At first I was like " what the heck are people blind" until I learnt more about article marketing and what it took to be good and provide good content to people.

This is what I figured out, that the articles that were getting more views had one or both of these key components in their favor:

Keywords - you guessed it, and yes I did write an article on why keywords are so important. If I wrote an article that had keywords that ranked very high on the search engine queries I had a better chance of my article being viewed.

Title Enticement - sounds funny, but I am dead serious. As much as we say we should not, we all judge a book by it's cover. Think of your article as a book and the title as the cover. We cannot help it, the more enticing that your title is, the better chance the article will be read. If you want a perfect example, just look at the tabloids next time you are at the grocery store. Point proven!

If you just focus on these two ideas for the last six months of the year with every article you will definitely see better results.

The power of the multiplier

If you look at the stats on the primary site that you are submitting your articles to, and see that you are averaging 5 views per article and have 50 articles this means you have had 250 views. Great job! Now let's say that you have done 50 articles in the last 60 days, and then decided to take these 50 articles and submit them to 10 or 20 other article submission sites. These same articles are now being viewed 2500 to 5000 times. That deserves a high five and a HOLY COW BATMAN! Now consider what your results could be like if you keep this same momentum for the rest of the year. Think of all the growth your primary site will obtain over the course of the year, when you drive article marketing and really dissect your stats.

In knowing this information is why I try to really educate people on the benefits of article marketing. I have heard of and watched people complain after submitting a couple articles and give up after no results. The say "article marketing is dumb and doesn't work" I say that it is not article marketing that isn't working it's the individual. Article marketing requires persistence, consistency and willingness to learn proven techniques.

I am now going to give you this personal challenge to get you started, right here and right now. As of May 1st, Ezine articles is running their 4th article marathon challenge. Only articles of 400 words or more will be accepted until August 8th, 2010. The last article marathon challenge that I was enrolled in without any prior knowledge; but won and received some great prizes. So do you have what it takes to drive your business with article marketing? You sure do if you can be persistent and consistent.

Roughly seventeen years ago I began my career into retail, and had been with the same major retailer for the past fourteen years. I can remember starting out and I really had no idea what to expect or to do. To me it was a new company, new people, new rules, new expectations, new everything! How was I going to remember everything and prosper? I quickly learned who the leaders were and began observing and studying their responses to different situations. I have always had a strong internal feeling that I could do more: for other people and for my family. I have found this by joining a team that focuses on helping others obtain their dreams and becoming more in tune what really matters in life, our loved ones around us.

Re: What do think you about these statisitcs? Re: What do think you about these statisitcs? - Those are some interesting stats. I think that it just shows you where exactly people are spending their time. I bet if you take all of those numbers and double them you will get the stats for when people are NOT at work. I see this as opportunity for business and growth through social media marketing. What do you think?
Re: Is being too connected pushing your business forward or back Re: Is being too connected pushing your business forward or back - Hi GT, This is why I gave up social marketing, not completely, but I am not using it to get traffic and sales. Article marketing is the main way for me. I do my socializing on forums, that's enough for me.
Article Marketing Article Marketing - Article marketing is probably one of the best traffic generation techniques available online right now. Do not underestimate the importance of article marketing to your online business, because it can totally help you ensure the success of your business.
Re: Alexa Ranking Goals Re: Alexa Ranking Goals - [quote="Trent Brownrigg":1qy5cq1f]Well, you guys peaked my curiosity, I guess it's time for me to check out IM Faceplate.[/quote:1qy5cq1f] Great to see you there, Trent! I'm going to be watching my stats to see how much traffic it brings in as I don't want to spend too much time there for little in return. So, we'll see.
Statcounter / Google Analytics Statcounter / Google Analytics - Hi TheAnonymousMan, I use Google Analytics for my official stats and for my advertisers because you can slice and dice the information into almost anything you like. The only downfall I find is that the information is not live - you have to wait until the next day to get your stats. For live stats I use StatCounter. I also find that their email reports are more convenient than Google's because you get it in the actual email instead of a PDF file which saves time. StatCounter also allows you to send email reports for specific sections. I'm not sure if Google has this functionality built in yet.
