Can a Blog Make You Money Online?

First of all I want to make sure that everyone understands what a blog is. In the most lament terms, a blog is a website that an individual updates with content often called "blog posts". When you go to someone's blog it is very normal to see the most updated post on the very top. People that have a blog and add content are called "bloggers", and when they are updating a blog they are said to be "blogging". As we go further down this rabbit hole, you will see that a blog can make you money online.

Types of Blogs

A Personal Blog - personal blogs were actually the first blog to be introduced to the world. They were first present somewhat like a diary would be but just not as personal. People would blog about their day at work, their kids, their neighbors and so forth. To this day the personal blog has really remained the same over the years.

A video blog - video blogs got introduced and have become the latest fad for a few different reasons. One reason is that some people do not like writing; they feel their sentences and paragraphs don't flow properly. Another reason is that it is so simple to shoot a quick video and upload it to the internet. Most phones today have this capability to shoot a video and upload to YouTube, you then can get the embed code and put it on your blog effortlessly. Finally video blogs are becoming very popular because of the many ADD individuals; they don't have the attention span to read so videos work for them.

Niche Blogs - Niche blogs are very specific blogs, for example: a blog about Mustangs, computers, cell phones, politics, or health products. These blogs are very targeted blogs and attract a lot of people because they tend to be more educated on their topic. Just imagine if your blog was only about motorcycles, you would have a vast in depth knowledge about motorcycles. Many times you can get people that want to put ads on your blog which helps you make money online.

The mighty Splog - This is a "dirty" blog, and most people don't like splogs. A Splog is a blog that is built by someone that takes other people's content from their site without permission and put it on their site, they then turn around and put their ads all over the site. Besides just being downright rude, it actually does hurt people like you and I that strive to provide original content.

Reasons you should blog

It is actually quite simple, if you can use Microsoft Word, you can blog. In today's world, since blogging has become so popular the programs are constantly evolving and improving. The programs are getting so user friendly that it's almost unbelievable.

The sky is the limit on what you can do with your blog. If you want to add 50 smiley faces at the bottom of every post you can. You can add pictures, videos, articles, thoughts, ideas or anything else. If you have seen it online you can almost bet you can do it on your blog. A good example is on my blog, I have a floating 3D tag cloud; people love it and play with it.

Time to network - With blogs, you are inevitably going to meet new people. AS you add valuable content, people will start commenting on and following your blog. As you get to know some of your followers, you may be able to leverage each other's abilities and experiences.

Search engines Love Blogs - the search engines want and need to provide valuable content to their searchers. They love blogs because well taken care of blogs have updated content on a consistent basis, they normally have pictures and videos that also enhance the readers experience.

And finally the reason you started reading this article, I know the suspense is killing you.

Make some money with your blog - As you become more of an experienced blogger and build a very deep following of readers. As you get more traffic, you are going to start to get noticed by many people and businesses. As you get noticed you will start getting ranked higher, in turn people will approach you to advertise on your site. I have seen advertising costs on blogs that start around 25.00 a month up to 10,000.00 a month.

Roughly seventeen years ago I began my career into retail, and had been with the same major retailer for the past fourteen years. I can remember starting out and I really had no idea what to expect or to do. To me it was a new company, new people, new rules, new expectations, new everything! How was I going to remember everything and prosper? I quickly learned who the leaders were and began observing and studying their responses to different situations. I have always had a strong internal feeling that I could do more: for other people and for my family. I have found this by joining a team that focuses on helping others obtain their dreams and becoming more in tune what really matters in life, our loved ones around us.

Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? - It is a difficult decision to make. Lets start it this way - What are you more interested in? Money? or Friends? or Both? If its purely Money, then Blog might be an appropriate answer. But consider this - It will be people (visitors) that will bring traffic to your blog and then Money will follow. This will be possible after a time and during this time it will be your friends who will be the starters. If you are looking for friends only, then its true that not many will be interested in knowing how you have beaten them in the game or the other way round. So it will be preferable to have a Forum where they can share ideas with you and others. But you can share your insider knowledge with them and invite comments from your Blog. You can also put up information on what others (including your friends) don't know about Tennis. The blog you create can provide News, Inside Information and also Techniques that can be used by the new entrants in the world of Tennis.
Re: We Have Another One... Re: We Have Another One... - Right after posting my last message I went to the online businesses section and noticed he had posted again since earlier. There are now 2 posts of his in there. At the time of writing this they are the top 2 posts in that section so they should be easy to find. I have also reported them both. I checked one of them and found many copies of it on different forums. One of them was the warrior forum and someone replied to it saying this... [quote:12zan0h6]This has been copied/pasted from Ideas To Make Money Online This guy also tried spamming my forum this way too, was banned quick - strongly advised to check his other 9 threads/posts I can almost guarantee if you google the first sentence you'll find more [EDIT: confirmed - all except his first are pasted from other sources - spamzer]. You'd think randomizing usernames would cross their minds...[/quote:12zan0h6] By the way, the ones on other forums are from journeyoflife7 (without the extra 7 that the new poster here as) which is the same as the one who was banned here. So it is definitely the same person, which means journeyoflife77 should also be banned. I already knew it had to be the same person but this confirms it.
Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - I wanted to share more on the topic of Blogging and creating your own original content that you enjoy writing about. Here's a real example. My wife started her own little Web site a few years ago. It's a very simple, home made Web site she built all on her own. She had sort of a hobby of going into Dollar stores, purchasing a few inexpensive items for a buck or two. Then she would create something completely new (usually home decor) out of what she bought (often with the same value of creating something that was worth up to $15 or $20) if you bought it in other stores, but only using material she bought at a dollar store. So on this little Web site, she starts writing about her creations and take pictures of them etc. A few years ago, someone from an AOL Money and Finance Blog (called Wallet Pop) invited her to Blog for AOL. Today, she write for both the US AOL Blog and the Canadian AOL Blog as well as she continues with her hobby and keeping up her own Web site. The other Bloggers at AOL have nick-named her, "The Dollar Store Diva" and she often writes about budget decorating. What amazes me is that with no SEO and just her original content, she attracts huge volumes of traffic. She has done radio shows in Toronto (and nearly went to the US to do breakfast television) and most people would be so amazed to see the traffic spike she gets from Blogging. But once again, she is just writing about the stuff she loves to write about. She is having fun with creativity and she now has a huge following of readers and subscribers.Others are decorating their homes with her ideas and their doing it with next to no budget. If someone is creating a Web site or a Blog, the best thing you can do is try something original on your own, but make it something that you love to write about.
Re: Newbi here Re: Newbi here - thanks for your responses guys.. I really appreciate it. Well, I have learned from realhomebasedsuccess dot com that there are home based business opportunities and ideas that could be our option such as: -Selling Goods or Providing Services Online -Making Money through Direct Marketing -Becoming an Affiliate Marketer -Getting Paid on a Click Thru but I was thinking which is the best one and most effective in terms of generating consistent Ongoing Profits. What do you think? do you have any insights?
Re: UPDATES: New Campaign! New Layout! New Ideas! Re: UPDATES: New Campaign! New Layout! New Ideas! - [quote="Ringo So":2696kbgu]Trent - It's actually a sub-forum within the "Making Money in 2010" category. Please let me know if there are any troubles finding it.[/quote:2696kbgu] Nope, still don't see it. I see the Online Businesses forum but that has been there for a long time. Is that what you mean? I don't see any Internet Marketing section.
