How I ranked on page one of Google Overnight for Free

Many of us are very familiar with SEO or Search Engine Optimization and what it means, if you have that puzzled look here is what SEO means: SEO is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a website from search engines by natural or unpaid means.

How I got ranked on page one of Google overnight was by using the SEO process and a great article. The first thing I did was to pick a keyword that I knew was popular but not saturated and overly common. You will also want to pick something that interests you, for example Bing has been interesting me lately and advertising and coaching is what I do; so what better then a keyword(s) of "Advertise on Bing". Picking a keyword or subject that interests you will show your passion and it will come through in your work, which makes it more valuable to everyone. If you do find a keyword you like, run it through Google and see what populates on page one. Remember the saying "Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance", know your competition.

As I investigated "Bing", I started with the history of Bing and how they came to be and what are they doing today, what value to they have to the world. Give your reader some content they can read to understand and relate to the topic, something they are familiar with. For example some people don't know what "Bing" is but they do know about MSN Search and who Microsoft is.

I then tinkered with "Bing" for awhile, almost like a child playing with all the toys, I found out what "Bing" offered its customers and what unique features does "Bing" have vs. its competitors. I then inserted a few bullet points of features that "Bing" offers, and how can it help the reader. Remember marketing 101 - "Features Tell, Benefits Sell".

After this I added in my keyword again by saying " So why advertise on Bing?", in a 400-500 word article you will want to insert your key word(s) 4-5 times, this helps the search engines pick you up better and it validates your topic. My article then leads into the driving force of "Bing" and what other companies or famous people that are using "Bing" to advertise.

Once I had my article all set into Word, I had the automatic editor take its toll, then had another person read my article, this allows a second pair of eyes and thoughts scrutinize the content, which is always a great idea.

I then added the article to BetterNetworker.com late at night, roughly around 10 or 11 pm which made it a "popular today" article and was posted on the front page all day long which drove tons of traffic to the article.

Final result, I type in "advertise on Bing" in Google Search box and there it is, on page one, sixth one down, in a nutshell this is "How I ranked on page one of Google overnight"

Please leave a comment if you feel there are other great ways to naturally rank high on page one of Google or rate this article if you feel it was good content.

Thank you!

Roughly seventeen years ago I began my career into retail, and had been with the same major retailer for the past fourteen years. I can remember starting out and I really had no idea what to expect or to do. To me it was a new company, new people, new rules, new expectations, new everything! How was I going to remember everything and prosper? I quickly learned who the leaders were and began observing and studying their responses to different situations. I have always had a strong internal feeling that I could do more: for other people and for my family. I have found this by joining a team that focuses on helping others obtain their dreams and becoming more in tune what really matters in life, our loved ones around us.

Re: Specific Strategies To Raise PR Levels? Re: Specific Strategies To Raise PR Levels? - After re-reading through the posts in this thread it seems to me like there might be a little confusion as to what Page Rank (PR) really is. For those who don't know... PR is a number between 1 and 10 that Google assigns to a web page based on it's importance. With 10 being the highest and most important. It's mainly determined by the number and quality of inbound links to the web page but there are other factors as well. It is NOT the ranking your site has in the Google search engine or any other search engine. If you are ranked #3 on google for "home business" that does not mean you have a PR of 3. They are completely separate things. Furthermore, PR does not determine how high a site ranks in the search engines. It's possible and very common for a site with a low PR to outrank and site with a higher PR for the same keyword phrase. If you want to raise your PR then you need more backlinks. Higher PR backlinks will pass more link juice to you and help raise it much easier. On that same note, if you want to increase your search engine rankings for a particular keyword then you also need more backlinks with the keyword you are targeting as the anchor text. When it comes to that, Page Rank and Search Engine Ranking Positions are very similar but that is it. People often think that they need high PR to get good search engine rankings and it is not true. They also tend to think that just because a site has high PR then it is better than a site with lower PR, that is also not always the case. One final thing about this is that the PR you see on your Google Toolbar for a web page only updates a few times per year and is not necessarily the actual PR for that page. The actual PR is stored at Google and is updated constanty, and is not shown to the public. Only they know what it really is. I hope that clears up some common misconceptions about Google Page Rank (PR).
Re: Domain name sugestion Re: Domain name sugestion - On the dashes question, I just did a test on my own site, Grasp-The-Nettle.com and found I got the following results: grasp the nettle = 6th on page 1 of Google graspthenettle = 5th on page 1 of Google grasp-the-nettle = 6th on page 1 of Google It doesn't seem to make much difference.
Broken delivery guarantees Broken delivery guarantees - Hi Everyone, I recently had a bad online purchasing experience due delivery problems. A tennis retailer I ordered from had used FedEx's Standard Overnight shipping to try and deliver my package to my friend's place in NY on Friday, August 29th. However, since my friend was at work and the condo doorman was perhaps on a break, FedEx brought it back to their depot. Keep in mind that I was only in NY for the long weekend, so I wouldn't even be able to get my order when they try to make a 2nd delivery attempt. So what's the point of calling it "Overnight delivery" when I didn't end up getting my package the next day? Most residential addresses won't have anyone at home to accept parcels because everyone is at work, so why even bother trying to deliver something during the day if you can't leave it there? And get this, FedEx then tries to deliver the goods again on Tues, Sept 2nd but reports it's the "incorrect address" and there's no such place. But then how come they found condo on Aug 29th? My order was just shipping in their depot on Sept 3rd and according to their online tracking, it's supposed to be delivered sometime today on Sept 4th. We'll see. FedEx's Overnight shipping has turned into 3+ days shipping. What would you do? I was so infuriated that I wanted to just cancel the order and ask FedEx to return it back to the retailer. I've never had any of these sort of problems with UPS.
Re: Readers, Money or SEO? Which comes first? Re: Readers, Money or SEO? Which comes first? - Hi Chris, I like your passion on the subject; I would have to agree with you on this one. Our company is finding Google is starting to look at content more. Links & Link Value are far more important....but Google is giving link value to sites that have quality content. I read a leaked report from Google a while back that explained how Google manually reviews sites. They have 1,000's of outsourced employees that go through sites one by one and rank them on many different levels. Once a site like Mashable is ranked a certain way, that value sticks with them. That is why no matter what Mashable, techcrunch, Amazon, etc... put out they rank well for. Obviously they all have incredible links but Google has given them link value based on who they are. Obviously the idea of quality content is nothing new, just seems like it has gotten lost in the SEO world. Jeff
Re: Google Local Tutorial - Free Online Advertising Re: Google Local Tutorial - Free Online Advertising - Hi GT, Thanks a lot for the referral. I have started signing up all my clients for Google Local. People are amazed that in two weeks they can have #1 listings for competitive local kewords. Tip: Don't stop by adding just one ad. As long as each page of your website is different and optimized for different keywords you should create multiple ad words for each page. Example: Type in "Minneapolis web development" in Google. You will notice we have two listings. One for our home page & one for our mission page. They are both optimized for "Minneapolis web development" so Google will approve both listings / ads. Jeff
