Is Twitter on their last “tweet”?

Twitter has been expanding at an unprecedented rate, and with their announcement of @ Anywhere platform it has been the "tweet" of the week. The @Anywhere platform specifically means "anywhere", operators of third party websites will be able to plug in @ Anywhere and use some of Twitters basic functions without leaving the original website they were on. This is going to make many people happy as the worst thing that can happen is when the web browser quits browsing.

When you browse a web page that supports @ Anywhere you will be able to follow any Twitter account that is an associate with that site without going to Twitter.com. They are also saying you will be able to tweet about a YouTube video without causing it to stop or be interrupted. Initial websites that will be participating will be websites like Amazon, Ad Age, Bing, City Search, Digg, Ebay, Meebo, MSNBC.com, Yahoo and YouTube to name a few.

While this may be a new move for Twitter, Facebook has been dominating this idea for awhile with a version they call Facebook Connect. Their open technology platform is well known and Twitter APIs are already widely implemented but this is a different approach because they have created something incredibly simple. Rather than implementing APIs, site owners need only drop in a few lines of JavaScript and there you go @ Anywhere works.

As a matter of fact Twitter just celebrated its 10 billionth tweet made in March of 2010. Twitter also has a current retention rate of 40 percent but the site is said to reach only 10 percent of all internet users, think of the growth ahead of them. Most tweets are done on Wednesday or Thursdays, the time when "maniac Mondays" are over, and they are bored, getting ready for the weekend.

So the answer the question "Is Twitter on their last Tweet?" - Not even close!

Roughly seventeen years ago I began my career into retail, and had been with the same major retailer for the past fourteen years. I can remember starting out and I really had no idea what to expect or to do. To me it was a new company, new people, new rules, new expectations, new everything! How was I going to remember everything and prosper? I quickly learned who the leaders were and began observing and studying their responses to different situations. I have always had a strong internal feeling that I could do more: for other people and for my family. I have found this by joining a team that focuses on helping others obtain their dreams and becoming more in tune what really matters in life, our loved ones around us.

Re: New man with Twitter Studies Re: New man with Twitter Studies - I have noticed I've developed a one-sided relationship with Twitter. I wonder how many others have too... Thanks to Wordpress blog plug-ins I now tweet almost every blog post that I publish. I also tweet any other article or blog post that I like IF there is a tweet button... BUT I hardly ever read anybody's tweets... The only time I read a tweet is if I happen to end up on my own account page and see something interesting pop up by coincidence. Does that strike a chord with anyone? Or do you have some good advice to offer me to show me what I'm missing? Thanks! DH
Re: Ideas on Using Twitter for Business Re: Ideas on Using Twitter for Business - Thank you evieparsons you gave some very important Twitter etiquette lessons that I wish more people would put to practice. I hate Twitter spam and I had to unfollow a few because they did not show a single tweet that gave any concern for anyone or anything besides sending as many spammy messages as possible. This is the quickest way to lose the support of the Twitter community and also destroy your business image in one swoop. Ringo thanks for the info on TwitterFall. I will have to try using that sometime for my research.
Re: New man with Twitter Studies Re: New man with Twitter Studies - Hi Tony Welcome to the forum. I would suggest trying that experiment again on Twitter, but follow the advice that both David and GT have given you here as I am sure that it will then make a difference. Or maybe ask people to retweet the message for you. I know that if I post on Twitter and go back 3 minutes later, my tweet has already disappeared way down to the next page. MichelleJ
Re: Twitter direct messages qustion Re: Twitter direct messages qustion - I don't think I get any newsletter sign-ups from Twitter. I'll have to check my referral ID's just to be sure, but I think most of them come from TE's. As I stated earlier, I don't spend much time on Twitter, which is probably why I don't get responses from people about my updates. However, I do get quite a number of responses from my tweets on Facebook. One tweet got me an EA in SFI from one of my Facebook friends, someone I never knew previous. They both have their benefits, and as with anything, you have to spend time on them. GT, I commend you on spending that much time on Twitter. Your hard work and diligence is obviously being rewarded.
Re: Social Media Works If You Do It Right... Re: Social Media Works If You Do It Right... - Hi Mal, Do you use #hashtags when you tweet? That's one way to attract people searching for your keywords. I tend to use Twitter as a quick way to get a link to my blog. Oh, I also use it to help clients build backlinks to their site - I guess I ought to set up alternative accounts for these different functions as GT has done, but I always think of Twitter as a one-minute operation and am not willing to spend more time than that on it per day! However, I'm looking forward to the next video too to see what illumination Don Crowther can provide...
