Is Your Online Business LinkedIn?

There are close to 70 million users on LinkedIn. Are you and your business part of that 70 million? Just like many other social media sites there are many ways to interact with other like minded individuals. If you are considering using LinkedIn for your business by conversing with others, check out the following types of people on LinkedIn.

The Mighty Lion

As funny as it sounds, or may seem, there are individuals that are called LION'S. LinkedIn Lions are really just LinkedIn Open Networkers, people that want to really interact and socialize with everybody. The approach is to connect to as many people as possible in order to reach out to thousands of different people. If you are into network marketing and are looking for leads or future business partners, this tends to be a good choice. This is no different than the shot gun approach, something is bound to happen. A LION is one to share his or her LinkedIn URL with as many people as they can to encourage them to become friends. With individuals taking this approach on LinkedIn they normally have thousands of connections, the largest I've heard of is 45,000.

The Professional

The Professional networker on LinkedIn uses his or her peers to further their careers by linking with other professionals in their field. The majority of your LinkedIn users do fall into this category. The Professional networker is one who connects normally with someone they have had previous interactions with and feel connecting will be beneficial. As you come in contact with more professional networks you will find many have 250 to 1,500 connections, which is still quite impressive. This type of networker also links to friends of friends if they feel that they connection could have a positive outcome.

The Only If I Know You

Believe it or not there are many "networkers" that will only talk to you, accept your invitations, or give you the time of day if they know you. Those networkers are ones that are very selective on who they trust and who they link with. You might be thinking this is very strange to be this selective and secretive on a social networking site. In the very beginning I also thought it was very strange until I started investigation why they were doing this. I found out that some networkers don't want other clients to see who they are all connected to. You wouldn't want two competing clients see you talk or consult them in a professional manner. Another reason is that any cutting edge ideas or breakthroughs you may want to be kept secret. You would not want any of your competitors taking your hottest clients or their ideas. With this type of networker you find that they have very deep roots with the people they are linked to.

It All Depends On You

You are the determining factor when it comes to your LinkedIn style or type. Just remember what you do and how you do it can determine for you the type of networker you will be. If you share with the world your URL profile you will be asked to be linked to many individual. Some words of wisdom for you, and this actually does pertain to anywhere online...if you don't want hundreds of emails or phone calls, don't share that information.

What Can You Expect

Once you get "LinkedIn" with this site and start networking you will find many successful business minded people. As you start building your network you will be providing good information to theirs, and they will do the same. You will find many people that have very specific skills that you may have not mastered yet. Building relationship is about helping each other out to obtain certain goals. You will find that you will be able to find many people like you and the relationship build will be quite easy.

So, get out there and get to linking!

Roughly seventeen years ago I began my career into retail, and had been with the same major retailer for the past fourteen years. I can remember starting out and I really had no idea what to expect or to do. To me it was a new company, new people, new rules, new expectations, new everything! How was I going to remember everything and prosper? I quickly learned who the leaders were and began observing and studying their responses to different situations. I have always had a strong internal feeling that I could do more: for other people and for my family. I have found this by joining a team that focuses on helping others obtain their dreams and becoming more in tune what really matters in life, our loved ones around us.
