Twitter and the online Marketing World

Twitter is a tool that many people use as a great opportunity in their online marketing for their business. And Before we get into all the great things that twitter is or really how to use it I would like to talk about a couple things to help prevent people from making these silly errors.

Don't automate everything - many people want everything done for them and yes when we can outsource or automate things, it does save us time. Remember that Twitter is a social networking platform and the key to success is networking, so get out there and network.

Spammers Beware - as you build your followers you do not only want to promote your business. If you do you will lose followers and possible get your account deactivated or banned. Be polite and consider others before you start slinging your business. Think about it this way, if you went to a party and met new people you wouldn't just off the bat stand up and tell everyone you had the best business opportunity ever. People would look at you and turn and walk away, you run people off that way.

One of the biggest problems I see with some people and their marketing on Twitter is they think it's the Holy Grail or magic potion for their business needs. I am here to tell you that if you think that way STOP IT!

Is it a Big Fat Lie?

While we have all heard make a "list" because that is where the money is. While I believe there may be a small sliver of truth to this; here are my thoughts on a list of when you start your business and a list of people after you have your business established. While I could go and build a list of 10,000 followers within a few months on Twitter, how good is that list actually going to be if no one is interested in what I am doing? It's no different than you having the best cut filet mignon and trying to sell it to a building full of vegetarians, it doesn't work very well. The likeliness of selling the filet mignon is slim and next to none, they have no interest or desire. You want to build a "targeted list" over time that have people that are interested in what you are doing and have to offer them. If you have a small list of targeted people that think and act like you do, you will obtain better results.

Are you attracting followers from the wrong places?

As we all know Twitter Tweets are everywhere and anywhere, they are picked up by other sites, bookmarked and sent back out all over the web. If you are building your list and following just anyone you find, what kind of plan is that, one that is wasting your time? I know it's called the "throw it against the wall and see what sticks" plan, and just in case you didn't know this plan doesn't work very well. If you are sending out your tweets to people about "the best online marketing business ever" and you got followers from a Sesame Street blog, what really are your chances? If you want to use Twitter in your online marketing, you have got to do it the right way.

Attraction is the main ingredient

There are thousands of things for people to be attracted to online and the many social media sites. You have got to position yourself with the knowledge and the passion which will attract other towards you. How do you do this you ask? You have to provide a positive environment with positive quotes or proverbs. Then you must provide good content like videos, articles or other avenues to help other people with no expectation of anything in return.

Twitter can be your friend as long as you approach Twitter with the mindset that you need to be providing great content and help others, you will succeed.

Roughly seventeen years ago I began my career into retail, and had been with the same major retailer for the past fourteen years. I can remember starting out and I really had no idea what to expect or to do. To me it was a new company, new people, new rules, new expectations, new everything! How was I going to remember everything and prosper? I quickly learned who the leaders were and began observing and studying their responses to different situations. I have always had a strong internal feeling that I could do more: for other people and for my family. I have found this by joining a team that focuses on helping others obtain their dreams and becoming more in tune what really matters in life, our loved ones around us.

Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Carol, Mary and David - thanks for your great input and insight on Affiliate Marketing! This is the kind of discussion I was hoping for in this thread. There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]

Who Said Twitter Doesn't Work...? Who Said Twitter Doesn't Work...? - Last month, the BBC World Service programme, The Strand, featured 21 year-old Icelandic pianist/composer Olafur Arnalds. Arnalds achieved extraordinary success through his internet-led project to compose 7 tunes in 7 days, post them on his website and then post links to it via TWITTER. As a result his website got thousands of visitors eager to listen to his music, catapulting him to fame and bringing his music to the attention of the BBC, who featured an interview with him on the World Service programme, The Strand! So who says Twitter doesn't work? (HINT: It does help if you have something uniquely your own that other people want to get hold of...)
