It’s important to master these 7 tips on how to produce quality content for your blog because blogging can be lucrative. For some the blogs help them earn money, while for others; blogs are a tool to achieve other business opportunities.
Regardless of why you have a blog you need readers to make the time spent keeping one worth your while. How do you build a loyal following? Quality content. Take a look at my 7 tips on how to produce quality content for your blog and start seeing readership pick-up.
1) Research, Research, Research
You might be able to get away with writing in a bubble but it’s often tough to sound credible not to mention interesting without outside information peppering your posts.
2) Varity of Content
Blogs should have a central theme that incorporates relevant topics on a variety of issues, products, news and people. You can also keep your blog interesting by adding attractive resources such as graphics, pictures, videos, songs, infographics and links. Keep your readers on your page and show them what else you have to share by linking them to other posts within your blog. If you do want to lead people to other websites make sure the link opens in a separate box so your blog is still visible.
3) Shorter is Better
Think about the attention span of your audience before you launch into everything you know about the topic. Producing quality content for your blog doesn’t mean going into length about what you know but giving the reader just enough information to stay engaged. Informative, concise and amusing articles are best. As a rule blog posts between 400-800 words are not too short and not too long.
4) Headlines that Demand Attention
What kind of titles demands your attention? What tone and style catch your eye? There are trends in every industry and currently in the blogging industry everyone is creating lists. Numbers can catch readers’ attention because bloggers promise to solve whatever problem it is they have in 5, 7 or 10 steps.
5) Ask Your Readers
It can be difficult to put yourself in this situation at first. There is always the risk that readers won’t respond. And then what? You’re potentially left hanging (ugh). The good news is regardless of the response or lack thereof you have your answer. If no one responds either they’re not reading or they’re not interested. If people do respond you can better tailor your posts to meet demand and get engage your readers.
6) Make a List of Topics
Take some time to brainstorm about all of the topics you could potentially write about. You never know when inspiration might hit so keep your i-Pad or notebook handy. The next time you’re faced with a mental block you’ll be prepared.
7) Post and Proof Intentionally
Producing quality content takes a lot of intention. Unless you’re a master grammarian who can type faster than they can think you’ll need more than 30 minutes to get your finished product ready for publication. It’s a good idea to come back to your post after 15-30 minutes to proof what you’ve done. And once you’re satisfied publish your post intentionally. Studies have shown that most people around the world tend to read blogs between 2pm and 6pm GMT Monday through Thursday. Why not appear before your readers when they’re in front of their devices rather than halfway to bed or wiping the sleep out of their eyes?
7 Tips on How to Produce Quality Content for Your Blog
At the core, these tips are about being intentional. Be intentional about what you write, what resources you use to showcase it, how you proof it, and then how you publish your post. Do this and you’ll have quality content for your blog readers every time.
