How to Stay Focused as A Blogger

Blogging is all about creating content. What drives visitors to come to your blog is essentially the content that you write. If it is credible good quality writing, more people will return to your blogs and eventually word of mouth will get your blog even more publicity. This translates into more visitors. If you are monetizing your blog this could potentially mean more sales.

Sometimes bloggers face a problem and that is they have this sudden outburst of ideas in their head but they don't know where to put the pieces together and they don't know what to start off with. These ideas need not necessarily be about generating content, but can also involve things like monetizing their blogs, promotion or even starting a membership subscription for your visitors.

The best way to solve this is to start planning for your blog. If you have heaps of ideas in your head and you don't know what to do with them, write them down in your diary or notepad. Start prioritizing on the things you should do first. If you haven't been writing for a month it is probably time to post some new content on your blog so writing becomes more important than anything else. Writing ideas down also makes things clearer to you so that you can decide what to write about. Chances are they might be certain articles that you may have more to write about.

You should also set a time frame for your goals. Setting deadlines for your goals ensure that you achieve your goals faster. Say for instance I want to have 1000 articles on my blog after 12 months. Write them down and start thinking of ways to get there. You can think of outsourcing, hiring writers for your blog if you cannot cope with writing. If its not achievable set more modest goals. You might be thinking of other ways to monetize your blog. Find out how to achieve this and give yourself a time frame and a profit target.

It can also be difficult to stay focused especially with the information overload we receive today. You might be listening to a 30 or 50 people who are so called "gurus" on how to blog the right way. There might be subtle differences between the way they blog and make money. My advice is to filter out 90% of those emails and listen to a good few. If you are not convinced with the gurus, then start looking for quality blogs on the internet specifically to your niche. Find out how they achieve success. Focus on a good few and never distract yourself with other information unless they are proven methods and they work.

Blogging is a fun thing to do. It is certainly better if you have an objective to blog. It can be to help others or to make a living. Whatever your reasons may be, planning and staying focused helps you achieve your goals quicker.

To Your Success!

Re: Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog? Re: Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog? - Hi GT, While I prefer Wordpress over Blogger, for many reasons already stated, Blogger does have it's benefits, even if they're few. There's nothing wrong with Blogger; afterall, Google does own it. I think that may be one particular reason why getting approved for Adsense is so easy with them. However, as Tanny pointed out to me some time ago, there's no way to disable the "nofollow" attribute, even after removing the code out of the template. So, this could discourage some from leaving comments on Blogger blogs. One benefit about Wordpress that I mentioned is having the social aspect as commenters can reply to each other, much like a forum. There's really no way to do this with Blogger, either. Regardless of whatever blogging platform you choose, it's all about the content. Using one or the other isn't going to make you anymore successful. Just keep pumping out the content and both search engines and people will notice.
Blogger Vs Wordpress? Blogger Vs Wordpress? - Hey all, I have around 12 or 13 blogs. Most of which I host on my own server so I can use Wordpress. Was wondering if anyone else had pros or cons on Blogger or Wordpress? I happen to really like Wordpress because of all the plugins and themes you can use. I happen to dislike Blogger because of the limited themes & layouts. Also it is a pain in the rear to do a split blog post, where you can have a small part of the article showing with a 'read more' link for the rest. I do like the fact that on Blogger my blogs get picked up quicker by google. Go figure, since they own Blogger it isn't surprising. Any positives or negatives on either one? .
Re: Blog commenting - does it worth? Re: Blog commenting - does it worth? - Hi GT, Yes, the name of the commenter links to your Blogger profile on Blogger blogs. I have also done the same as you and inserted a link to my site at the end of the comment text when commenting on Blogger blogs. There are many more advantages to commenting on Wordpress blogs, though. One benefit is if the blog owner uses threaded comments. This makes it easy to reply to other commenters, similar to forums. In fact, I find blog commenting as much the same as forum posting. You can easily build up links and reputation on various blogs.
Re: Blogger Vs Wordpress? Re: Blogger Vs Wordpress? - I use Wordpress and Blogger. Agree Blogger is much more limiting, but both free blog platforms are great for building a network of blogs as feeder sites. They also serve the purpose of being hosted externally and on different IPs which is also good for SEO. .Blog is another good free platform, also based on WP.
Re: Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog? Re: Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog? - I’ve tried Blogger before. Then I decided to “migrate” my blog to WordPress. But I’m still maintaining the blog at Blogger because I still can’t figure out how to add Google adsense scripts on my WordPress blog.
