Important Video Marketing Tips to Promote Your Business

Video marketing is one of the most effective ways to promote your product or services to earn money from home. If you have noticed, most top internet marketers have a video component to their online business. And it's not surprising that videos take up a very strategic area of their websites. Most of the time it can be found on the top page for immediate viewing or in some websites, occupying a sizeable area of space with just a couple of words or paragraph for you to opt in to their mailing lists.

Video Marketing addresses some key areas when marketing your business:

Allows retention of information more effectively. Hence, your customers are more likely to remember or return to your website. Often visitors would rather review videos then reach through a large landing page with a million words to read.

More engaging for your visitors. This sort of overlaps a little with the previous reason. Since videos incorporate a visual and audio component, you are more likely to be drawn to content streaming from videos. A human voice adds a further dimension to the interaction you can have with your visitors. Unlike long written landing pages with a hundred paragraphs to read, people with short attention spans might just scroll all the way down or just close your website.

When you are making videos, there are a couple of key areas to make your video marketing more effective for your audience.

Content: Need I elaborate more? Obviously focus on what you want to offer to your visitors. Make it succinct and clear but not too brief.

Voice: Please... you are not talking to a machine. Interact with your viewers like you are talking to someone in front of you. Vary your tone of voice, express yourself but I don't expect you to be a poet. In short, speak in a way that engages your audience.

Simplicity: Make your offer simple. Address the areas without going into the fine print. It can really bore your viewers. Remember people are not interested in your website or you. They visit your website because they are looking for something and if your video provides that, you're in for business.

Aesthetics: Font size, font colour, background colour, background images etc. Basically anything to do with how your video looks. Use your imagination to add life to your video. But sometimes plain simple videos do the job great. Just don't overdo it.

Follow up/Call to Action: Sometimes videos are not just about content. Telling your viewers to do something fast or take action can increase conversions significantly.

Publicity: Youtube, Metacafe, eHow, Google Video, MSN, Break.com, Hulu and more... Publish your video to as many high traffic, high PR video sharing websites as possible.

Testing/Analytics: This applies to a lot of areas with regards to internet marketing. PPC, email marketing all requires you as a marketer to find out which ad or email works better for your customers. Similarly testing your videos is one key area you must not forget.

I hope these sums up some important areas before you make your videos. Practice makes perfect.

All the best!

Re: What works for you? Re: What works for you? - Hi Yinka, I work better under pressure of deadlines when I am doing something for other people. However, I like to have the leisure to develop my own projects. The first case is what Stephen Covey calls a "Quadrant 1" activity ("Important and urgent") whereas the second case is a "Quadrant 2" activity ("Important, not urgent"). We should aim to make as much time as possible for Q2 activities so that we can develop our own projects. Easier said than done!

Dramatized the product Dramatized the product - Tough one... It's going to have t be a mix of different media. 1. Testimonials of current owners of the product and how it's helped them. This can be done thru Video and print 2. Somehow I believe there will have to be Video of it being "dramatized" 3. People of influence will have to support or sponsor the product. just some that came to mind..
