Link baiting is essentially a very useful way to get good organic traffic and even back links to your website. Some of you might not be very familiar with the term "link bait". I wasn't even sure about the term until recently. You might think ok, I'm baiting someone to click the link or go to the link? Well if you are thinking along those lines, you are on the right track. Link bait is actually a blog post with a link of course that is designed or written to draw people's attention to it. The end result is almost always to make bloggers click on that link and this can significantly increase traffic.

Link baiting is legal and not banned by search engines. Although there may be a negative connotation to the term, there is nothing wrong doing it. Today I would like to share with you 6 link baiting tips to increase website traffic.

Debunking Myths

Myths are popular. People love reading myths but what stirs people even more is if the myth is completely demystified. You can write around a common topic that is believed to be a myth by your readers. Explain to them what the myth is all about and draw your readers into reading them and then debunk them. Describe reasons that would open their eyes to see why the truth has not come to them. If your myth is a very popular myth and you write a good post around that, a lot of visitors and bloggers will love it and will add trackbacks around your post. They might even quote you for writing that article. Thus more link juice for you!

Product Reviews

Product reviews is also a very good way to get a lot of people to visit and read your blog. It is even better if you are ahead of the pack and the first one to give that review. People generally would want to read reviews before purchasing a product, so there is always going to be reviews to critic that product. If you are in that position, seize the opportunity to write a s detailed post that makes your article the best review. If you can do that, the search engines will love that, add your article to the search listings and you will get good traffic coming to your website.

Get Interviews

Interviews are great especially if you manage to interview an authority figure and post the contents of the interview on your blog. People would love to hear expert opinions on a particular subject and word of mouth will get more people coming to your website to read that interview. The important thing about interviews is that it is good to list down the important parts of it to add more value to your post.

"How To Tips" or "To Do Lists"

We've seen plenty of such articles around the internet and this is not just restricted to blog articles. Sometimes it can be difficult to write an article starting along those lines and get good traffic if there are a lot of competitors for the keywords in your title posts. Nevertheless, writing things like "5 Steps to Boost Confidence" or "How to be a better parent in 5 ways" does get people to read your articles. You might want to try breaking up your articles to smaller pieces so that you can post different but related articles over a period of time.

Starting a Discussion Or Debate

As a blogger, you don't necessarily have to write articles all the time. It is more interactive to get your readers involved. You can post a few paragraphs of an article about a rhetorical question related to your blog and ask for comments. The comments section then becomes very important as it becomes the focus of discussion. You can ask questions that will get different opinions from various readers and you can jump into the discussion as well. Be careful here, sometimes discussions might go the wrong way causing people to get angry and this is reflected in their comments. If that happens, it is your duty to diffuse the tension and moderate those comments.

Rants and Being Passionate

Sometimes you might feel very uptight about something on any day and you feel like releasing all those tension. Ranting and speaking your mind out can get attention from bloggers. It gets even better if there is an element of controversy to your rants. This can get a lot of people to respond to your post. Some may sympathize with you while some may stir you up even more. Be careful not to hurt your reputation in the process of doing this.
