Three Traffic Generation Mistakes that You Must Avoid

Traffic generation can be a very complicated process. Some of us might resort to "black hat" techniques to drive traffic to your website. But you must bear in mind that the search engines are watching you very closely. Everyone makes mistakes however, if you know what mistakes to avoid in advance, you save yourself tons of time, energy and money.

Do it the right way and you will be spared, but if you make these three traffic generation mistakes, you might as well not have a website.

Link Farms

This is an absolute no no! Link farms are websites or groups of websites that link to every site that registers or joins. They're detrimental to your growth and search engine page ranking because search engines analyze what links are coming into your site and if they're from websites that aren't relevant or reputable, your website gets knocked down in page ranking and sometimes even banned. Link farms harm your reputation. When linking, be sure to generate links that come from relevant and quality websites.

Be careful of those who ask for link exchanges too. Have a good look at their website before agreeing for a link exchange. As mentioned earlier, ensure that the sites that you want to exchange links with is relevant.

Keyword stuffing

This is the practice of essentially stuffing your content with keywords. Not only does it make for an awful article, the search engine algorithms recognize the practice and penalize you for it. If you don't know how bad this sounds, try talking to someone on a topic say, self improvement with plenty of keywords repeatedly mentioned in the conversation. You know what I mean.. Obviously it would sound horrendous and no one would want to listen to you, ever.

The goal when writing content is to write naturally and then go back and insert your keywords where they fit. The important message here is to not keyword stuff, do adequate keyword researchyou're your articles. Keywords are important but do not overdo them.

Duplicate content

Duplicate content occurs when you publish the same article or blog post on more than one website. There are differing opinions on the effect duplicate content has on your website rankings however, it's generally not worth the risk. Having duplicate content won't penalize your websites but will trigger the so called competitive filter. This means that if you have identical articles on several websites on the internet. Only, the higher traffic or better quality websites will be placed on the search results. All others will not rank as well or not be ranked at all.

If you want to repurpose content and reuse it on other websites or for article marketing purposes, rewrite your article or have it rewritten.

In my opinion, avoiding these three traffic generation mistakes is not too difficult. All you got to do is remember it and steer clear of anything that doesn't have a positive effect on your reputation, credibility, and search engine ranking. As a marketer, you'll also want to test and track your traffic strategies to find which ones generate the best results for you.

Re: What are your May Goals? Re: What are your May Goals? - Thanks Evan! I just changed one of my business goals from setting up a video site on Traffic-Geyser to: "Set up a newsletter email series (let's say 10 messages) on Get Response..." I reviewed Traffic Geyser in the latest episode of "David's Den" on my blog (see sig file), included an excellent video review of Traffic Geyser by John Detlif and decided against taking that particular project any further. Still lots to get done!
Re: Traditonal Demographics Do NOT Work with Generation V Re: Traditonal Demographics Do NOT Work with Generation V - That article is the first time I ever heard the term. I found this definition - [i:189o61sy]The term Generation V (for Virtual) is used to describe the online culture in which relationships, services and communication are carried primarily and preferably through electronic media. Generation Virtual is made up of people from multiple demographic age groups who make their social connections primarily online - through virtual worlds in online games, in social networks, as bloggers, or through posting and reading user-generated content.[/i:189o61sy] I like the targeting options the internet offers much better than the typical demographics. Age is particular is not nearly as effective in finding a target market unless you want to target kids. Too many of the typical demographics rely on stereotypes and just seems outdated for many types of promotion. That's one of the reasons this article title caught my eye. Shri
