Two Reasons Why Pay Per View Advertising is Popular Amongst Affiliate Marketers

Pay Per View advertising is popular amongst affiliate marketers. PPC advertising used to be popular amongst affiliate marketers not long ago but things change rapidly in the internet world and you might have already come across some emails promoting products through pay per view. There are various reasons affiliate marketers are venturing into this territory though not new. Here I would like to highlight 2 important factors that influence their decision to get into Pay Per View advertising.

Targeted Traffic

Traditional PPC methods have been used for a long time but has some problems associated with it. The most common problem is that traffic generated from PPC advertisements are too broad and non targeted. Most PPC ads are typically placed on search engines which can generate a significant amount of traffic but conversions are poor. You can imagine seeing a PPC ad on the front page of Google that looks interesting. But do you actually want to go ahead and click and sign up for any offer or product?

Any affiliate marketer who's logged more than one sale in his or her life will tell you that traffic is a good thing. They'll also tell you that targeted traffic is a great thing. It's not just a matter of getting people to look at an offer. It's about getting the right people to look at the right offer.

PPV on the other hand allows you to pull in targeted visitors to your site other than just using keywords. This is through bidding on specific URLs. When a PPV network member visit's a URL upon which you've placed a bid, the PPV companies will serve your ad. You might not be able to see how this works but in fact it creates unrivalled targeting opportunities. You can opt to put your landing page or affiliate offers in front of people who visit competitors' sites or who are visiting specific pages. This form of targeting has good evidence showing a strong likelihood that the individual would be interested in your particular product or service.

Direct Linking

PPV marketing also allows direct linking to affiliate offers. Most PPC options regardless of the amount of traffic generated are very restrictive in that respect. If you've set up a PPV campaign with direct linking, you won't get penalized. They'll allow you to put that affiliate offer in front of visitors without an intermediary landing page. If you want to direct link, that's your business.

There are some good arguments in favor of using landing pages instead of direct linking in many cases. However, there are marketers who would prefer to direct link and there are situation whereby that is the most profitable course of action. PPV makes it possible to take advantage of those situations. That makes it particularly attractive to affiliates who are tired of grappling with the restrictions inherent in most PPC programs.

These are some of the main reasons why marketers are more interested in PPV advertising. Of course there are a few more other reasons which we will discuss in a later article. Are you ready to start your PPV campaigns?

Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Carol, Mary and David - thanks for your great input and insight on Affiliate Marketing! This is the kind of discussion I was hoping for in this thread. There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]

Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - You made some very good points here Jeff and I agree with you, Affiliate Marketing should not be something that you concentrate all your efforts into. As i said earlier I have learned a lot with Affiliate Marketing and continue to do so, and it has helped me tremendously to understand what I am going to have to do in my chosen niche(s). I am also being coached by the same group of mentors as GT and we are all moving forward daily to achieve our ultimate goals. Take care, Carol
