Creating Success By Consistent Core Desire!
That’s right, how to create success habits by consistent core desire so strong that the person finally reaches success by need or want. Of course the next question is what in the world do I mean by that statement? The old school you may never have heard of it but, people or human beings were thought to be creatures of habit. I know you want to jump right into the good part, about how to start building these success habits. But, we don’t want to reinvent the wheel so we have to clear up a few things first.
By definition a habit is a fixed tendency to perform certain way--a tendency so strong that it may go beyond the control of the will and sometimes beyond that of consciousness. Most habits originate in conscious acts. But every time the act is performed, it becomes easier and simpler until in time it ceases to need close attention. When a baby is first given a spoon and allowed to feed himself, every act is a conscious one. He carefully picks up the spoon, turns it right side up, takes up the food with it and guides it as accurately as he can to his mouth. Before long, the whole business of eating becomes habitual and almost takes care of it without thought.
What happens within a person when a habit is begun. For a long time people thought that an act repeated several times formed a path through the nervous system. According to this theory, the habit is best developed through drill or practice. The sight of an approaching baseball sends an impulse of a skilled batter which brings his muscles into action in a way that’s calculated to hit the ball. Every ball hit strengthens the nerve connection which led the nerve connections which led the batter to swing in that particular way. Habit in this sense could be defined as a previous impulse following the line do least resistance.
There is considerable evidence that this theory is incorrect. If a habit is a path through the nerve Rous system, then cutting through that path would presumably destroy the habit. But experimenters tell us that it doesn’t work out that way. Psychologists have taught rats to run a maze and then slashed through their nervous system at many points.
This does not appear to destroy the habit’s the rats have learned. It has been possible to destroy a large percentages off a rat’s higher brain centers without getting rid of a habit. In one case, a rat’s nerves and muscles were cut in such a way that it could no longer make a turn to the left. When it came to the place in the maze which called for a left turn, the rat simply made a three-quarter turn to the right, so that he was headed toward the left again.
A newer theory of habit formation points to core desire, need or want as the cause, promoter and fixer of habit. According to this theory, habits are repeated not because of continuous repetition. The new theory is a person fixes in his imagination exactly what he expects success is to him. His paradigm becomes so strong or his core desire constantly works tireless everyday towards his goal whatever that maybe. If he dreams to become a millionaire in real estate then he’ll take to necessary steps to make it happen. Time or distance is not important to the individual. The important thing to him is to make sure he sets his compass to the correct direction, creates the plan, surrounds himself with the right mentors and then takes massive action!
