If you go through life being Casual, you will become a Casualty
Man, for some reason, even though
he knows the consequences for certain actions, ends up doing it nevertheless.
Man’s indifference towards himself has been one of the biggest banes to the
society he lives in. Let me give you an example.
Yesterday, I had my broadband
connection disabled by the telecom company because of non-payment of dues. The
line that I am using is registered under my friend’s name, and as per our deal
my friend is supposed to pay the monthly dues. But he failed to do so, 3 months
in a row, resulting in me suffering from the loss of connectivity. The problem
is not ‘my friend did not pay the bills’, but the fact that ‘I knew my friend
had to be reminded every once in a while, because he is forgetful’. The mistake
was at my end for not reminding him to pay up. Instead I kept assuming and
wishing that he would remember to pay. Even though I knew there is a loophole,
I did not do anything to cover it.
I fooled around till the last moment before I decided to do something
about it. The result: Business Downtime and disconnect from the rest of the
world – I ended up a casualty!
This attitude that man takes
towards himself has been the cause of many failures. In my case itself, before
I decided to start my online business I spent months researching and taking it
casual. I didn’t do anything about it because I had a job paying me a handsome
salary. I didn’t need to. But I didn’t know what lay ahead-the recession. And
when that hit, I came back to my senses and immediately started off my online business
to establish myself. I kept fooling around till the last moment.
And this attitude is ever so
evident in the world today. You know very well the job scene in the US as I
write this. People know, at the back of their mind, that the US is heading into
its worst depression in history. But they still hope that Obama will do
something to prevent it. Even though they know that the country is far too
deep, they still apply the ‘Crossed-fingers theory’. But they don’t want to get
off their butts and take action to start looking at alternate sources of income.
They just hope and pray, sadly, in vain. In the Bible it’s said ‘Search and you
will find’. Remember, it didn’t say ‘Pray and you will find’, or ‘Hope and you
will find’, or ‘Wish and you will find’. It said SEARCH! The opportunities and
the treasures are reserved for the searchers and not for the hopers.
In one of the recently ended
conferences, Robert Kiyosaki, millionaire entrepreneur and author of the
RichDad series, firmly believes that the world is going into a depression. He
is not alone. Harry Dent Jr., Jim Rogers, etc. are of the same opinion. These
are multi-millionaires with a firm footing in the economics of the world. If
they say something, you better NOT take it CASUALLY. But, as in my recent
experience with my broadband connection, I don’t expect man to take this
economy seriously till all hell breaks loose. That’s when people will scramble.
Abraham Lincoln once said, “It’s better to be prepared for an opportunity and
not have one, than not being prepared and having one.”
I am ready, already. I am ready
to take on the depression. Bring it on. What about you? After reading this I
wish that you would NOT take it casually. Let that not be YOU…I hope.
Take care and God Bless.
