Life Success Tip – Be wary who you listen to

Article Overview: I experienced an enlightening moment the other day. I received an email from a gentleman asking me to explain what can I offer him that my business system cannot. Even though it seems like a straightforward question, it is not. I thought about it for a while, before I responded to it. The answer is something very simple, but very deep if you actually go to look at it. From the outside, it would seem silly and weightless, but from the inside it has the makings of a solid foundation. So what was my answer to that question? Before I tell you that, let me relate a true-life story, which I heard from Les Brown, America’s foremost motivational speaker.

I experienced an enlightening moment the other day. I received an email from a gentleman asking me to explain what can I offer him that my business system cannot. Even though it seems like a straightforward question, it is not. I thought about it for a while, before I responded to it. The answer is something very simple, but very deep if you actually go to look at it. From the outside, it would seem silly and weightless, but from the inside it has the makings of a solid foundation. So what was my answer to that question? Before I tell you that, let me relate a true-life story, which I heard from Les Brown, America’s foremost motivational speaker.

One wintery day, a couple of good friends headed over to a frozen lake nearby to skate on ice. The boys were somewhere between 5 and 10 years old. During their skating session, one of the boys headed deeper into the lake and to his misfortune he found himself skating on thin ice. Before he could realize it, he has fallen through the ice into the icy waters below. His friend seeing this rushed near him but could not get him out because the ice layer has formed back and his friend was trapped underneath the transparent layer. He could see him struggling but could do nothing to help him. Then he happened to see a tree in the distance. He skated to it as fast as he could, broke a branch and started digging into the ice feverishly. His effort proved successful and he managed to make a hole large enough to pull his friend out back again.

By the time the paramedics had arrived and taken care of the victim, a small crowd had gathered. They were all praising the rescuer for his bravery and presence of mind. However, they were all surprised as well, and wonder how did a young boy break off such a big branch (apparently the branch was bigger and heavier than what a person of that age group could carry), haul it to the spot and lift it again and again to hammer a hole in the ice. It looked like a super-human effort. How? How did he manage to do it? It’s impossible! In the midst of all that, an old man spoke up and said, “I know how he did it.” Everybody looked at him in silence. The old man said, “ He could do it because there was nobody around him who said he CAN’T!”

Coming back to the question, which I was asked. In view of the above moral from the story, my response was, “I can mastermind with you to ensure that you reach your goals”. Basically, what I said was that I will keep being positive and never tell you that you can’t do it. My philosophy is based around ‘CAN’ and ‘It’s POSSIBLE”. As I said before, the answer seems weak at the outside, but it’s filled with fortitude from the inside. But for the vast majority, that answer holds no meaning; sadly.

I hope you have realized that in order to break through the ice you need to surround yourself with people who encourage you and egg you on, even when the going is tough. It’s a MUST! No one has achieved any success of considerable proportion without a mastermind alliance with somebody else with a common objective.

As the Lord Said, “When two or more gather for a common cause, nothing is impossible!

The Second Life Platform - Greetings! I'm not sure how many of you have heard of or are sensitive to Second Life and its related entities. However, Second Life is a fantastic platform to mimmick real life business operations in a real currency based economy. There are plenty of successful stories for creative individuals, but I'd highly suggest doing your research and appreciating Second Life for what it is, and what it isn't.

Chtistmas is made up of all those sentimental things. "It's A Wonderful Life" is all about perspective, much in the same way that Scrooge is 'realigned' in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" - which I listen to on CD every year (sometimes twice!) Ideas on Using Twitter for Business - 1. Build an account and immediate start using Twitter Search to listen for your name, your competitor's names, words that relate to your space. (Listening always comes first.) 2. Add a picture. ( Shel reminds us of this.) We want to see you. 3. Talk to people about THEIR interests, too. I know this doesn't sell more widgets, but it shows us you are human. 4. Point out interesting things in your space, not just about you. 5. Share links to neat things in your community. ( wholefoods does this well). 6. Don't get stuck in the apology loop. Be helpful instead. ( jetblue gives travel tips.) 7. Be wary of always pimping your stuff. Your fans will love it. Others will tune out. 8. Promote your employees outside-of-work stories. ( TheHomeDepot does it well.) 9. Throw in a few humans, like RichardAtDELL, LionelAtDELL, etc. 10. Talk about non-business,
