Network Marketing Success tips: 9 basic action motives

I had an interesting experience today. I lead a team of talented people who manage a chain of retail shops in the auto industry, and I had to tackle a compliance issue with one of our staffs. The staff doesn’t wear safety shoes at work, which is a serious safety hazard. He claims that he is more comfortable in flip-flops! This has been going on for a few months now. Initially I used verbal advice and warnings, which obviously had no impact. So today I had to resort to a written warning with an ultimatum. This whole incident got me thinking as to why some people take action and some don’t. What is it that I must do to get this guy to see what I am seeing? In this case, my staff chose not to wear shoes, even after repeated attempts to correct the situation. That’s when I remembered the teachings of Napoleon Hill, which all of a sudden flashed in my mind.

Napoleon Hill said, “No man, apart from the insane, takes any sort of action without a motive”. So if we need someone to take a specific action then it becomes imperative that we provide a sufficient motive. This especially applies in the field of sales and the Network Marketing industry. Many networkers struggle to recruit people because of this very reason. They fail to plant a sufficient motive in the minds of the buyer, to ensure a sale. And what are the 9 basic motives? They are: Emotion of Love, Emotion of Sex, Desire for Material Gain, Desire for Self-Preservation, Desire for freedom of body and mind, Desire for self-expression and recognition, Desire for life after death, Desire for revenge and Emotion of Fear. Among the 9 motives, the first 7 are positive and last 2 are negative.

In the business world, especially in Network Marketing industry, the most powerful of motives is the Desire for Material/Financial Gain. If you are struggling to recruit people in your organization, then I would suggest you take a look at your presentation and see whether or not you address this particular motive ‘Desire for Financial Gain’ strongly. If not, then probably that’s why you are not striking the success note.

There is wonderful Japanese proverb: ‘When you buy a vase cheap, look for the flaw; when a man offers favors, look for the motive’. Remember the meaning behind this proverb and you will realize that you need to focus on the ‘motive’ and not the offer, whether it is business or life.

God bless.

Re: Improving Cash Flow Re: Improving Cash Flow - Hi David, You are right, I was the same when I first started, and it is only after a bit of experience or maybe the assistance of a mentor that we find top tips and short cuts to avoid money problems with our basic outgoings. Sadly the high casualty rate in Internet Marketing is not helped by the lack of knowledge of many newbie’s who but for a little bit of advice find themselves out of the business before they have a chance to get established. regards, Mal.
Why do people hate Network Marketing / MLM? Why do people hate Network Marketing / MLM? - I've been looking at a number of different opportunities and end up meeting a lot of Network Marketing / Multi-Level Marketing people. Some of the offers look interesting but everyone I talk to about it says to avoid these guys like the plague - what's the deal? Why do people hate network marketers and MLM people so much? Is it not legit?
Re: MLM Marketing, youtube, and buzzirk mobile. Re: MLM Marketing, youtube, and buzzirk mobile. - I have experience with MLM too. My initial reaction to the business was "snake-oil salesman" but once I got to understand the "overall business model" I am now an advocate to it. MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) is also known as Network Marketing. I realized an MLM business is no different than any other business. One needs to focus on both words "Network" and "Marketing" and give both equal respect. Some people focus heavily on the Networking part but forget "Marketing". I've started to use Building on a Budget and Magnetic Sponsoring concepts in my NM business and have found that people don't get involved so much because of the product but more because of what you bring to the table as far as marketing systems and support. I have both products listed in my signature. you don't have to buy it as the link to the free videos itself provides you a good understanding of what is required to position yourself as my above paragraph. If you do plan on purchasing it I can tell you that the measly $40 will open your eyes BUT your upline will not be too happy (atleast in the short term) beacuse the system is not duplicateable. I wrote this post as a polar post to Bulmer's reply as I have exhausted the friends and family networking and realized i never really focused on marketing. My leads now are more qualified and open to hearing about my opportunity than the other way around. my 2 cents if you plan on growing an MLM or Networking Marketing business.
Re: Best way to start a business? Re: Best way to start a business? - It really just comes down to decision, action and persistence. You can spend a lifetime thinking about doing something, and researching it, to decide if it is the right action to take. Or you can make a decision about something you want to achieve, take action and be persistent. Make a plan of action, and adjust it as you learn more. An online business is something you should jump into straight away. The time it takes to start a new website is minutes, so there is not much of a barrier to entry for you to start a basic website and learn. Obviously if your idea was more specific like starting a review comparison site for laptops then your action would be trying out and comparing different review platforms, classifying laptops etc. But you would still take action and dive right in. If it was an offline business then it would likely mean even more preparation. Say you wanted to start a wine shop, which would eventually become a chain, you would start by taking action and learning as much about wine as possible, networking with people in the industry and generally working to become a win expert, and research locations for your first wine shop. In each situation you make a decision about what you want to do, act on that decision following a rough plan which you adjust along the way, and be persistent in working to achieve what you laid out in your original decision.
