There have been quite a few complaints that people have been misled to believe they were getting facebook advertising for free by using a 'white hat' code!

With a title like that you would not be thought stupid to believe that you would be learning to create facebook ads for free.Totally misleading. People are upset for getting not facebook advertising info. but facebook fanpage info!

Get Facebook Ads Free does not do as says. It gives you templates to make a fan page, it has nothing to do with Facebook Ad's.
Fan Pages are a different marketing method to Facebook Advertising completely!
There is software that creates content fanpages which might be useful and seem to be easy to set-up,
but we already use Fan Page Engine to set up our Facebook Fanpages. We payed something like $60 for unlimited fanpage templates, professional looking, video, opt-in, online business cards and awesome support.
Check them out here, play with the free trial to make a FanPage and go to their actual fan page on Facebook and observe the amount of times they reply to their customers concerns. As said, their support is awesome.

- Thanks for the feedback guys! I personally started with Twitter and am now moving over to Facebook. I polled people on both my accounts and (not surprisingly) the Twitter people said Twitter and the Facebook people said Facebook!
The actual order of my social media presence looks like this:
1) LinkedIn (with little success)
2) Twitter
3) YouTube
4) Facebook

- Facebook is where I get all my traffic. Facebook is great, because you can create fan pages and your customers come to you. Twitter is good, but I just don't see the same results. I think Facebook is the most popular and it's easier for people to find what they're looking for.

- Regarding Facebook Ads. I have found them to have a poor click thru rate and a poor conversion rate. When people are on Facebook, they are there for a social element, so it is a soft sell. If you want to advertize your business, then go to Adwords, it is cheaper and a lot more effective. Facebook Ads are still too new in town.

Hi Evan,
If I've never heard of the person, I'll "ignore" the request even if that person has friends on my network. When I submit Facebook requests to new people, I'll often include a short message indicating who I am and how I know them. For example, my Facebook profile picture may not be clear enough for someone to recognize who I am.
At the moment, I have 1-2 people stalking me on all the social networking sites. This one person has invited me to join on LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.
Does Facebook have a feature to keep a friend, while blocking out his/her group and event invites?
And do you feel your Facebook friend list is only for family and friends? Or do you accept friend requests from business acquaintances (i.e. not close clients)?

It is Pay per click advertising. You have google, yahoo, MSN and other sites that offer it. Your ad shows up along site of the search results for the key words you specify and on other sites as "sponsered results". You could test the market with PPC (track where you get your hits from;keywords and so forth and use SEO to get FREE traffic), or Free methods like article marketing.. Either way you have to [u:ms4wci6i]know what your doing [/u:ms4wci6i](supply,demand, niche, [u:ms4wci6i]Highly[/u:ms4wci6i] targeted prospects, Location specifics [country, state,city,zip code,] etc.). Oh yeah and you have to have money. Because you are going to lose money if you are a beginner. Man I need to include this post on my blog...LOL Been a while since I been here. Just got this notification in my email and figured I'd help you out. Been working on my SEO.
To answer your other question there are LOTs of other Free ways to advertise/market. For example Forum marketing
Yahoo Answers (great for SEO to) But be careful not to bet banned.
SEO of course Search Engine Optimization
US Free Leads
Article Marketing
YouTube
Twitter
Yahoo blogs
Blogging (blogger,squidoo, hub pages)
Myspace
Facebook
Newspaper ads
Craigslist
etc.
The list goes on. These are just a few I though of off the top of my head. Now that I think of it I need to start doing more myself.
ideasuniversity had wrote quit a few good post on marketing/promotion, viral effects and such. You should check them out.
Just a word of advice, make sure you have the write niche first.
