My Thinking Was Flawed

Guest post by: Michael Riley

Article Overview: One of the toughest challenges we all have is facing reality. To hold a mirror up to our face, and identify changes that need to be made. Why is it that 3% of the population makes 95% of the money? If it was easy, it would be the other way around. I believe that all of us are capable of being wealthy, but in reality it comes down to mindset. If you want to join the ranks of the 3%, you must learn to think and act like the 3%.

My Thinking Was Flawed

Are you a dreamer like me? At what point in our live's did we start to give up on our dreams? Was it the people around you that kept saying, "Grow Up" Or maybe it was after working in the corporate world for awhile, and having an epiphany one day, and one day saying to yourself, "There has got to be more to life than this!"

How is it that you know that a great life exists out there, but yet it seems so far away. What is holding you back from living your destiny? Or as I like to call it,"Living Your True North." For starters, it is good to tune out the media. Most of it has an agenda, and that agenda generally feeds on sensationalism. Those of us that choose to live life on our own terms, the one thing that we all have in common, is that we can think for ourselves. Yes, it is possible to be financially free, socially free, and free to do what we want, when we want. That, by the way, is only about 5% of the population.

Research has shown that fifty percent of happiness is genetic, and the other fifty percent is choice. For example, a person who has a significant emotional event happen in their live's will generally return to their happiness level within one year of the event. A good book I would recommend to prove this point is "Man's Search for Meaning" by Victor Frankle. Even though he was a Jew in a Nazi concentration camp during the war, it was there that he realized that even though he was a prisoner in the physical sense, he noted that they could not take away his mind.

I bring this to light because I want you to experience the freedom that is your birth rite. If you want to be financially free to do the things that you always dreamed of, start making your list of 100 things you would love to do. This is actually harder to do than one might think. First, you have to move into the mindset that it is possible. Next, you have to move into the mindset that you deserve it. There is a lot of guilt out there that will lead you to believe that being rich is all about being greedy. That is rarely true, it is the top 5% of America's wealth that pays 40% of the country's taxes.

Look at what Bill Gates has been able to do with his wealth. There are many others, but you get the idea. The road to wealth is all about desire, and believing in yourself. In this day and age, we are blessed with technology. Duplication and automation are keys to creating wealth in today's world. The beauty of it is you don't have to be Bill Gates in order to create wealth now. Let them come up with the technology, and you market it. That is why home based businesses are springing up in today's exciting new world. It allows everyday individuals like you and me, to make a pretty darn good living from pretty much anywhere there is internet access. That may not be the whole world yet, but it is only a matter of time.

I am a blossoming entrepreneur. It has taken some time to get my thinking right on how to live the life of our dreams. So few do. so being around the right kind of people who think the way that we think, is sometimes hard to find. I am proud that I have chosen the road less travelled. The people we meet on this road tend to be more interesting, and tend to be more open to different ideas. Less institutionalized I guess. Anyway, life is Awesome!

Hiring introverts vs. extroverts Hiring introverts vs. extroverts - Hi Kevin - interesting topic! Thinking back over my career as an entrepreneur and the people I've brought on, most of them have been introverts. The exception usually comes with the sales function (but not always). It's generally hard to be a good salesperson if you are an introvert.

For me it just got to a point where I realized if I took my top 20 or 30 cards that meant the most to me I could actually display them and cherish them instead of keeping them in boxes with all the others. Plus I knew others could benefit and get new happiness from the other cards. Thinking about those 2 points made it a lot easier to part with them.
Re: How do you create a million dollar idea? Re: How do you create a million dollar idea? - Thinking is the easiest way to create a million dollar idea. If in doubt ask Alex Tew. He was faced with a financial problem, he needed money for his university education. He sat down one night and thought on how to overcome the problem, he came out with selling pixels to a million people at a dollar each. In five months he made his millon.
