How to rank at number one in the search engines in less than a week

1. Create profiles on social networking sites

There are literally hundreds of social networking sites to join and add a profile. Amongst the most well known are Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. I would recommend starting with these sites and make sure you add in plenty of details about you as well as your contact details and website address.

2. Join internet forums

Again there are literally hundreds of online forums that you can join on the internet, these can rank well in the search engines particularly for your name. Join a number of forums and start talking to people worldwide about your niche or expertise.

3. Article Marketing

If you are reading this article you probably understand the importance of article marketing when marketing your brand online. Giving your readers quality content is likely to ensure they come back for more. Join a number of article sites and start submitting quality content for niche. Write a strong bio on yourself including your areas of expertise.

4. Video Marketing

Video marketing is a great way to connect with your audience as it gives them a much more personalized message. You can join You Tube for free and start making videos with a basic webcam. Popular videos can rank very quickly in the search engines so try and make it entertaining and of value. Record a video about yourself and use your name as the title in order to rank in the search engines.

5. Use your name as a keyword

For all the marketing mediums above, ensure you tag your name as a keyword, this will ensure that when someone types your name into the search engine, you are going to be optimized for it. If you have a highly popular name, like mine, use your middle name or a nickname instead.

If you follow the steps above you will be well on your way to ranking in the search engines relatively quickly.

Re: Search Engine Optimization Re: Search Engine Optimization - As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content and HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.
Website Ranking #1 in all Search Engines Website Ranking #1 in all Search Engines - Greetings Group, One of my niche websites use to be #1 on Google, but didn't rank well on other search engines or not at all on Bing, Yahoo, MSN or AOL. Then I took the site down for about 3 months. I only had one page that said "Site Under Construction". I cleaned out all the files from my server. Last week I did another search for my site and this time no search engine listed it at all. It was as if it never existed. So I decided to put that site back together this past weekend. This time I installed a word press blog as my website so I could get away from coding website pages. Well I just checked all the main search engines and in less than 48 hours I am back to #1 on Google, but also #1 on Bing, Yahoo, MSN and AOL for my key words. So here's where I need the group's insight. I've never dominated multiple search engine positions before. Where do I take it from here? How would you reach out to that target market. This group I target are all off line businesses in a specific industry. I write articles and sell industry specific products. My competition is another site and they focus only on product sales for this industry. But when you do a search for them in this industry they don't come up in the search engines. So I think I found a hole I can exploit to my advantage. Need some input please. Thanks
Re: Vote on a Poll about the importance ranking in the Top 10 Re: Vote on a Poll about the importance ranking in the Top 10 - I guess it's time to chat a little more about this topic. It seems that most people voted that it is still important to rank within the top 10 results. The keyword here is "rank." It's not a trick question but the element of ranking in the top 10 changed big time in back in 2008. My opinion is that it most certainly is important in SEO to be visible within the top results. But one of the things to remember about "ranking" is that these days, because of personalization of search, you really can't take what you see to be the top 10 results in a search to mean everyone else around the world is seeing identical results as you are. Indeed once a search engine sorts it's results based on it's current algorithm, there is a secondary process of shuffling the top 100 results to prioritize the finished results based on the individual's search history. Of course Google gives you the option to manually turn that function off. The trouble to most of the world, it is turned on and even those who know about it, tend to like more personalized search results. Many people assume that because they see their own Web site in number 1 position, the the rest of the world must see the same results as they do. But the truth is that search engines do not grade on an absolute scale, they grade on a relative scale. This is primarily for those using SEO as one of their marketing practices. Actually, there are no defined absolute top 10 rankings because of personalization now in effect. In fact I have seen cases where people are totally making the wrong choices when they attempt to reverse engineer what a competitor in the top spot is doing because they see that competitor as what they perceive to be in an absolute number 1 ranking, when in fact they actually may not be showing number 1 for most of the world. As a good friend of mind says, the whole concept of reverse engineering an algorithm is quite false. If someone tells you they can reverse engineer an algorithm, they simply can't do it. There are some things in life that can never be reverse engineered. Try reverse engineering a cake once it's baked. You can taste it, you can guess at some of the ingredients, but the only way you can reverse engineer or create another cake just like it is if the person who had baked it, gave you the exact recipe. Google will never give you the recipe. But the really cool thing is, that you don't need to reverse engineer the algorithm in order to gain top visibility in the search engines. Even if it were possible (which it isn't) the whole purpose of the algorithm is to keep changing. I'll share more along these lines in the future.
Re: How should i promote a new website? Re: How should i promote a new website? -

Submitting a website to the search engines is not the way to go about things. What you should do is get a link pointing to your site from another site. The search engines will naturally find your site and crawl it. This can be done by adding your site to link directories, blog commenting, rss submissions, article marketing, social bookmarking, etc. There's many ways to go about it, but that's all that needs done. Submitting a site to search engines will actually do more harm than good. Anelly, you've been given some great advice on how to promote your site. Article marketing, blog commenting, social bookmarking, forum posting, etc. are all great ways. Starting a blog and writing about your site and the product you're promoting is great as well. There's many offline strategies that work well, too.[/quote:2u4k1le6] Hi Alan, I completely agree with you. However, I don't remember where I saw this advice, but this guy recommended submitting to search engines ONLY ONCE, when your website is new and fresh, and never again! Didn't have time to try this, and I don't think is can do any harm, but only if you do it once. Backlinks are the only way to go.[/quote:2u4k1le6] Hmm... I've never heard that one. When I started my new niche site I never once submitted my site to any search engines. Now I'm getting over 200 visits a day from Google and other search engines, and it has a PR 2. If you get a chance to ask Suzanne Morrison I'm pretty sure she'll agree that submitting your site to search engines is a waste of time. It's better for them to find your site naturally through links on other pages. I totally agree that backlinks are the core for getting traffic and high search engine placements. Make sure to use the keywords in those backlinks that you want to rank for.
Re: Bad SEO techniques? Re: Bad SEO techniques? -
There are few more techniques which also known as the Bad SEO Techniques or Black Hat SEO Techniques. Such as: - Relying on keyword metatags - Purchase Links (From Spamming or blacklisted sites or doing purchase links on high level for site marketing) - Horde Page Rank: This is one of my favorites, because it's one that most webmasters don't understand yet. This is because it changed over the past year or two. The concept people have in their mind is that page rank is a key part of site rankings and linking to other sites "leaks page rank" from your site. However, the world has changed. - Swap Links: Another oldie, but not goodie. Search engines want links to represent endorsements. Swapped links represent barter, and they are trivial to detect. Don't swap links for the purpose of building page rank. It's a waste of your time - Implement duplicate content - Use Session IDs on your URLs - Use lots of Javascript - Implement your site in Flash[/quote:1a8vvwse] I wouldn't think of "relying on keyword metatags", "using lots of javascript", and "implementing your site in Flash" as bad/black hat...just ineffective. The search engines don't pay much attention to keyword metatags, and using javascript/flash just means the search engines can't "read" it (so if your menu is javascript, for instance, the search engine won't see any keywords you might have in there.)
