There are many home based business options available ranging from taking in laundry right up to trading in stocks and shares. The online business that you choose should focus around three key elements – Time, commitment and resources.

Time – How much time do you have to commit to this business? Will you fit this in around your full time job or other commitments? Or will you be taking the plunge and invest all your time into it? Clearly the amount of time that you have to spend on your business will influence your choice.

If you are looking at part time opportunities you might want to consider using the internet to start up a business. This way you would only need internet access and a computer to start off. For example you could become an affiliate marketer and earn commission for your sales. You should always do your due diligence and research so you make the right choices for you.

If you are planning to go into business full time then there are likely to be more options available to you. If you have decided to start a home based business you are probably looking for something that will fit into your lifestyle. This way you can work when the kids are at school but you can have breakfast with them and read them a story at night. Start by looking at the various options available online.

Commitment – Commitment will come if you are really passionate about the journey you are about to embark upon. Do you love the business you are thinking about and does it play to your strengths. This will help you stay committed when you hit obstacles along the way. If you have any doubts about the venture then it probably is not right for you.

Resources – Your budget have will impact the choice of business that you can invest in. If you are thinking about an online business then you can take advantage of low cost marketing such as social media and article marketing. Many of the marketing methods online can be utilized for free. Whilst most home based businesses do not require much initial capital, it is wise to reinvest any initial profits that you make into marketing.

There are many considerations when you are starting a home based business online. You should base your choice on your time, commitment and resources so you are setting yourself up to succeed from the outset.

Re: Women and Home Based Business Opportunities - Honestly, in most cases today... stay at home moms or wives does not necessarily equate to unemployment or anything of that sort. You will be surprised to see how many women who are making it big working at home. Perhaps the convenience of working at home and the flexibility of the work schedule attracts many women at home to engage in online work rather than actual office based work. Furthermore you should see how many clients prefer women over men when it comes to online jobs at home. Most clients states that women are always on time for work and are commited to get the job done. There are also a lot of women entrepreneurs who are now opting to start a home based online business because of the benefit of getting to be with your family at home. I know some women who successfully balances their online business and their roles as wife and mother. It sure is fun to see them work their business like a bonding time for them. I know one that is running a RTW clothing line online... Her husband is a photographer so he takes pictures for their products while their children gladly poses for the camera as a part of their portfolio. Well I guess if you really want to work out a scenario there are a lot of ways.. but if you are not that determined to do so then you can just think of different excuses.
Time spent - I log into this site at least once (sometimes twice) for about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes and that's at least 6 days a week. I work a full time job and also work independently, running a home based business and also assist my husband with his home based business...I also have 2 kids under the age of 14 and one 20 year old, so i'm generally very busy and don't have a ton of time to be here more than that. I believe too much time spent on the internet in general is not healthy and had to cut back on my childrens time online, as one saturday when I was especially busy, I realized they had been on for 6 hours straight! so now I only allow each of them to get 2 hours a day.
Insurance for Home Based Business? - Apparently homeowners insurance and liability insurance may not be enough to cover your at home based business. Especially if you are running the business out of a detached garage or other dwelling on your property. Does anyone have another type of business insurance for their home based business or know anything about this?
