Article Overview: Are you looking for a true outline for how to start an internet marketing business that will be successful? Have you tried numerous offers that claim they can show you "how to make money on the internet" only to be disappointed? Why is it that no one has ever published a true, legitimate and comprehensive outline that does what it claims it can do? Let's start with a look at what is being offered today for internet marketers.

"The Outline to Internet Marketing Success" - Part 1
Wouldn't it be great if someone would publish "The Outline To Internet Marketing Success"! A step by step guide to show anyone how to start from scratch, build an advertising machine, find "the product" to market and sit back and watch the profits pour in. A guide for newbies, or someone who's been at it for a while with little or no success.
Granted, there are countless ads for "guides" or "programs" that claim they will show you how to make money in Internet Marketing. You've seen them I'm sure. You may have even tried a few. Which means you've found that what they are advertising is a way that the author or seller of the guide or program is going to make money off of you! They typically offer no real structured plan or only show you generalized methods to make money on the Internet. Oh sure, they may be truthful about showing you methods to make money using the Internet, but they leave out the important details of exactly how you must proceed step by step to get there!
As an example, say you are taking an online course to be a computer technician. You sign up for a course so you can learn how to build or repair computers. They start the course by listing each of the chapters you will be taking with a brief summary of each. As you're proceeding through one of the chapters the instructions for increasing memory might say "To increase the RAM of a computer with a 512 chip, replace the 512 chip with at least a 2 gig chip." Now... they are being truthful and accurate about how to increase the RAM of a computer, but they are leaving out HOW you actually replace the chip. If you had no experience with working on computers, you might have some legitimate questions -
* What is RAM?
* Where is the 512 chip?
* Where can I get a 2 gig chip?
* Do I need any special tools?
* Do I need to unplug the computer first???
These are all legitimate questions that need to be answered or else your chances of successfully changing the chip are little to none. Or worse yet, you might get electrocuted if you didn't unplug the computer!
This is what is missing from so many of the advertised offers that claim they can show you how to make money using the Internet. They don't first define what Internet Marketing is, what product you are going to market and what types of marketing choices you need to make before you start your business. They don't show you step by step what you really need to do. They don't show you how you need to do it. They don't explain why you are doing it. They also tend to leave out just how much you may have to spend, how much time you need to invest and a realistic expectation of how long it may take you to make your business successful based on the money and time you can investment.

- Hi Kevin,
Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory.
Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing.
I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife
- I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways..
a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak.
Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc..
Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL.
There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.

Welcome to the forum, it's great to have you here and thank you for telling us a little about yourself. You sound like a very enthusiastic person who likes what she does and in Internet Marketing that is very important and you also sound like a 'people person' which is great.
Internet Marketing is time consuming and challenging but can also be extremely rewarding and hopefully profitable. I don't know how many forums you have signed up to but this is one of the best. The support and guidance you get here is what makes it the success that it is but as I am sure you know from looking at the side bar that there are many aspects of business that are catered for here which will help you along the way,

- Hi Kevin,
I have to agree with Tanny. All forums are unique in their own way, but doesn't mean that one is better than the other. What you might get out of one forum, you may not get from another. For instance, the WF focuses on Internet Marketing, while this forum focuses on Entrepreneurship. Each has their own set of benefits. I don't think you can really compare one to the other, unless of course they focused on the same topic. I have learned a lot from this forum, stuff I would never have gotten from the WF. With that being said, I've learned a lot from the WF, specifically since I need to know about Internet Marketing and running an online business. The addition of the Online Business forum here will help, and Jeff is doing a great job as moderator.

2009 is a new year and I'd like to create a new forum category to jazz things up! In the past, there's been some interest voiced about adding a "Social Media Marketing", "Online Marketing", "Internet Marketing" or "Online Promotion" category.
I'll implement [u:1g2tv6tf]ONE[/u:1g2tv6tf] of those new categories, but can someone first tell me what the difference would be between the existing "Marketing" section and one of those new options mentioned above?
