Business Blog Step 11 - Blogs and RSS Feeds

All blogs should have at least one RSS feed and over time possibly more as you segment both your content and your blog’s readership. The RSS feed will generally be created automatically for you by your Blogging software and so your main task will be to make sure that it can be found.

If you find that you have to create your own RSS feed, then I would recommend that you try Feed for All which is quite straightforward to use. Alternatively, consider moving your Blog to a system which does this automatically as it will give you much more scope in the future and certainly save you time. With your RSS feed set up and in place, you can focus on subscribers and ensuring that they get the best from the RSS Feed.

Make it easy to find your RSS feed

Make sure that the link to your RSS feed is easy to find on your blog, as it is an important way to allow people to subscribe to your information. If you wish to create the individual icons for different readers then this will help to remind people to do so. Feedburner has the facility to help you do so or you might try TwisterMC. If you are using Wordpress, then there is also a plug-in available from the same company.

Sign up to Feedburner

While not essential for your feed to work well, Feedburner does offer a number of useful services around your RSS feed and so it is worth signing up and using their free services. One is to create a special RSS feed address which will allow you to see how many subscribers you have to your feed but there are others which I will mention below.

Email subscription to RSS

For those people still unfamiliar with RSS Readers, you can still give them the opportunity to register for the information in your Feed via email. One of the services which allows this is FeedBlitz which provides you with the necessary code to put the sign-up box on your site and then will deliver the articles from the feed via email to any subscribers.

RSS feeds are an excellent and easy method to help readers to find you and your content so use them wherever you can.

RSS Feed Directories

There are also web directories where you can submit your RSS feed and where the content from the RSS can be searched on both for general subject area and in terms of the content of individual posts as well. Some feed directories that you can start with are: Feedminer, RSS Locator, Desk Feeds, 2 RSS.

Re: Your choice between... Re: Your choice between... - I will take the $100,000 and double it on it becomes millions before I spend it. Though I am crazy about information, yet I would rather take the money and turn it into a million before I spend a dime out of it. I will do it in 4 steps. Step 1 turn $100,000 to $200,000 Step 2 turn $200,000 to $400,000 Step 3 turn $400,000 to $800,000 Step 4 turn $800,000 to $1600,000. After getting the goal of step 4, I will spend the $600,000 on myself then continue to double the millions again. I could then by the book for $1,000,000
Step by step approach Step by step approach - Here's what I would do; Step 1 - Observe Wal-Mart’s target customers, what does Wal-Mart offer them? How long do they stay? Discover what it is that they might want or need that Wal-Mart doesn't offer, and then write those ideas down. Some ideas to get you started are - A cafe or fast food venue, something for the kids to do while the parents shop, etc Step 2 - Take that list, and weigh up the pros and cons of each idea, and then select the best one for you. Don't worry about not using all the space. Step 3 - Start the best business for you, and then release the other ideas to the general market and sublet the rest of the space to those who could fill some of the niches you've come up with, plus any they can come up with. If money isn't a factor then developing the building to suit multiple small leases may be a better option, as it's a diversified income, which is potentially more stable than one big income stream.
RSS explained RSS explained - Hi Takuya, Many thanks for the indepth explantion. If I understand it right, it is mainly for the use of 'Blogs'. You refer to the use connected to 'Blogs. What about websites. Is there a benefit, too? Kindest regards Beat "Unlock People's Potentials!"
Need a book recommendation for writing better Need a book recommendation for writing better - I'm always looking for ways to improve my writing skills, so I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good copywriting or copyediting book? I was actually thinking of reading "The Copywriter's Handbook : A Step-by-Step Guide to Writing Copy That Sells" by Robert W Bly [u:w3cg00nn]OR[/u:w3cg00nn] "The Copyeditor's Handbook: A Guide for Book Publishing and Corporate Communications" by Amy Einsohn. Would anyone know if these books are any good? Thanks
