Business Networking Tips

I’m sure everyone would agree that in order for a business to flourish, it should be backed up by a solid network of consumers. Ultimately, all businesses, whether based on the internet or the “real world” need the patronization of people in order to survive. However, not all businessmen are able to tap the right people in order to grow their business. As such, they end up with a load of products ready to sell, and not that many willing to buy. Business networking tips like the one to be discussed in this article will be of great assistance for aspiring entrepreneurs who have no idea how to broaden their consumer and affiliation base.

1. Use Social Media.

If you’re an internet business, for Pete’s sake, act like one. There are several networking resources on the internet you can tap in order to make your business more popular to the community. There’s the ever common Facebook, Msypace and Twitter. For business, there’s LinkedIn, Talkbiznow and Ryze. Joining them is helpful for your image and it won’t cause you a single dime. You can even use these accounts to optimize your site and boost it up the search engine page result ranks. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone.

2. Join Forums.

Forums are like social media sites. They have a lot of potential customers you can gather up and influence. The only difference with forums is that they are stricter with their membership. They don’t allow marketing and those who do market are looked down upon. If you plan to join forums, be prepared because it basically takes more than commitment. You don’t stream ads here, you share knowledge. That’s how you improve your credibility, popularity and ultimately, your consumer crowd. But, I believe, in all the business networking tips I will present, this is actually the most fun.

3. Attend conferences and trade fairs.

It’s a traditional assumption by attendees that all presenters in a conference or trade fair are experts in their respective field. Hence, they are looked upon with authority. Get your self and business out there by networking through these professional gatherings. A lot of people actually come to these events subconsciously willing to be consumers. Most of them are in search for new and interesting products to buy or timely services to avail of. They also seek consultation and insight. If you do well when you perform at these affairs and hand out your business information (don’t forget bring business cards), you’re bound to have a rise in the quantity of phone calls you receive or pageviews you get for your site by the very next day and the succeeding week.

4. Attend fund raising activities or better yet, organize one.

There’s no better way of introducing your self and your business than by putting your best foot forward. Advertise that you are to host a fund-raiser for underprivileged kids, prisoners, cancer victims; you choose. The point in this business networking tip is you should take advantage of people’s natural inclination to be socially active when you want to widen your scope of influence. Charity reflects well on your business and attracts hoards of people, including fellow businessmen and well off individuals. These are the type of crowd you want to be associated with – those willing to help. Of course, if you do adapt this advice, make sure you follow through. Lying is not the best way to start friendships.

These business networking tips have worked for a lot of successful businessmen in past. It will work for you today.

Re: How can a social networking site make serious money? - Hi There, It is quite interesting, that some Social Networking do produce an income. I think testimonials are always a benefit to share. See one below: This Social Network has changed my life! Every night is a Friday night and everyday is a Saturday!! Because of it, I have been able to leave the workforce 10 years early. It has given me back my life. Many of us would like to retire early. I am sure there are many more. The point is of focusing with great determination. The ongoing challenge is to stay focussed and not be sidetracked into a newer scheme or so. Also I have read, during this financial turmoil, more people turn to Social Networking for various reasons.
