Entrepreneur Mistakes
Starting your own business and turning it into a
successful money earner has no formulas that will let you accomplish this
overnight. Although there may be no formulas for success, there are many
mistakes that an entrepreneur can make to botch up a business lead. As an
entrepreneur operating in a competitive industry, you would not want to be
doing the same mistakes that have made some companies bankrupt. Instead, you
would want to learn these entrepreneur mistakes and equip yourself with what
these people have lacked in their career.
It is a hard thing for a scalable business to prosper if
they are only operating alone. It is true that having a single web design,
consulting firm and public relations may require just a little capital while
hiring an administrative assistant can cost a fortune. The solution to this
problem is to create a good price margin that will allow your business to bring
in the people that you will need as it is not good to operate alone. When you
are working alone, you receive no advice from people that are thinking outside
the box that is why it is important to have people that you can consult to. A
lot of clients do not mind if you get your workforce from outsourcing companies
as long as you are the one who will be negotiating with them personally.
Another one of the common entrepreneur mistakes that
aspiring and existing ones make is that they enter a target market with no
distribution partner present. It is much easier to get into a market and
dominate it if there are network agents, manufacturer representatives and third
party resellers ready and willing to sell what your business offers. Industries
such as fashion, media and food work this way but others are not so fortunate. This
is why businesses such as public relations firm, pet grooming and yoga studios
struggle to survive. These businesses alternate between the positive and
negative sliders. The solution to this scenario is to create a list of
potential sources that you can refer to before you start your business. Ask
them if they are willing to lend their services to you and your business.
Yet one of the biggest and the one that gives the most
negative results is the mistake of having no business plan. Although it is true
that some companies do not need a formal business plan, starting one up
requires a significant amount of capital to grow and more than a year to turn
that into profit. The solution here is to think about the key metrics that make
your business work and create a business model that will spin off three years
of sales, profits and cash flow projections.
Even though there are many articles and books that have
been written to provide a guide in entrepreneurship, it is still inevitable to
not make some of the entrepreneur mistakes along the road. Being knowledgeable
in these flaws and avoiding making the same mistakes can make your business
grow and expand into a profit earning company.

How to create BUZZ?
- As a small startup we need to be able to create Buzz around our product, but we haven't had tons of success. Despite being written up in the Toronto Sun, Metro News, Entrepreneur Start Ups Magazine and listed as a resource in Entrepreneur Magazine people in Toronto still don't know about us.
Any ideas on what I can do to get people talking? Preferable ones that don't have a large price tag attached? Any ideas would be appreciated. Our URL is included in my signature.

Write ups not successful?

At the risk of sounding cruel...which I do not mean to be... ifyou're getting those kinds of writeups, people in Toronto [i:2kry5vyo]must [/i:2kry5vyo]know about you. It might be that you're just not offering a service that the majority of them want or need.
Time to expand into other areas or just change fields entirely?
