Multiple Streams of Internet Income
Internet Marketing is a topic near and dear to my heart, because it allows me the freedom to do things I might otherwise not be able to. I choose when I get up and go to work, I take holidays when it suits my family and I, and when I think it's time for a raise, well that parts up to me as well.
I thought I'd discuss a few of the income streams available to me as an internet marketer in the hopes that one or more might benefit you, and perhaps give you that little nudge to put it into action, and start developing it so that further down the road you will look back and see that you were able to develop one more assets for your business in the form of an additional income stream. I'm a true believer in the multiple streams of income plan, and have to say I like it much better than having just a single source, which I did for many years when I was in management.
Advertising banners:
I can only imagine the time, effort, and money that you've invested into your own blog or website, so that you could benefit from the volume of traffic that you deserve. Chances are this is a road you're still travelling and increasing traffic levels is an ongoing endeavor. A great source of income for your site can be in the form of advertising banners. It's important to develop a relationship with your advertisers so that you might enjoy a long lasting relationship with them rather than try to replace them each month. It's a good idea to implement an advertising page so that you can address some of the more common questions you might receive from prospective clients. Things like traffic stats, RSS subscribers, rates, and even awards you may have won.
Google AdSense:
I listed AdSense separately from advertising in that it can easily become a revenue source equal to or greater than banner advertising. It is such a simple concept that is capable of earning even a low traffic site some added revenue each month. Many of the best known blogs out there earn many thousands of dollars each month just from Google and the AdSense program. If you haven't already implemented the code into your blog, I'd highly recommend you give it a shot if you're looking to earn with your site.
Affiliate Income:
As an internet marketer myself, I know how many products, and services you use on a day to day basis in order to keep your business at the top of its game. Keyword research tools, hosting companies, twitter automation tools, and the list goes on. Why not refer people to the one's your proud to stand behind in exchange for a nice commission on the sale of the product? When selling as an affiliate for sites like Clickbank, where the products tend to be of a digital nature, commissions of seventy, or eighty percent aren't unheard of. Affiliate marketing is fully capable of earning you a full time income in and of itself, but it's even better when it's a single stream of income that's coming in on a monthly basis, and running alongside several others.
Services:
Providing a service to your clients is a great way to start making some money almost immediately with your website and your limited only by your skills or imagination. You can choose to perform these services yourself, or in house, or I've even seen sites offering a wide range of services that were fully outsourced to external companies allowing them to focus on marketing and driving sales profitability.
Products:
Investing the time to produce your own product is a great way to contribute to your revenue sources, as well as to set yourself up as an expert in your field. There are fewer and fewer marketers these days willing to invest the time and effort into creating high quality products that are designed to help their clients solve a problem they might face. Going the extra mile and creating a high quality, high value item is a great way to get your name out there in a positive way.
Email Marketing:
We've all heard the expression "the money is in the list" from some of the big name marketers out there, and with good reason. The average email subscriber is worth approximately $10.00 to $12.00 each year. Now taken individually this might not seem like much, but if you're growing your list at a rate of 10 or 20 subscribers a day, you can see how this might quickly add up over the course of a year or two. It's important to note that marketing to a list shouldn't be just about the sales offers. It's important to provide your subscribers with valuable content, and expert advice throughout the course of your relationship if you expect them to take your sales suggestions or recommendations seriously.
Paid reviews:
One of the benefits to being a blogger, who writes for a living, is the opportunity to review certain products or services that relate to the theme of your website, and that your readers will get value out of. There are several companies out there that will match potential businesses with related blog owners so that you can then do a written review about them. It's important to write an accurate review rather than just signing off on the company as a great investment. It is much more beneficial to a business if you list both the positive aspects as well as any areas you may have had difficulties with. This allows the company to take that feedback, and implement patches into the software, or rewrite any areas of a manual that may have been clear to them, but not from a consumer's point of view.
I personally like the fact that my income is broken down into manageable sized streams that I can easily tweak and adjust to try and increase the performance I get out of them. I know that by increasing my CTR (click through rate), or the number of visitors my site receives I can in turn increase my income streams like AdSense, or affiliate offers.
At the end of the day, my paycheck and its amount are dependent on me, and the ideas I might have, which is the true reflection of an entrepreneur's worth!
