#58 Creating Great Content For Your Blog

The key to creating great content for your blog is to know your audience. It is not good enough just to say you want all eyes on the Internet reading your blog. You want to be targeted and focused on a particular niche so your blog is not confusing to your readers. It may not be interesting to a cat lover, for instance, that your blog is all about dogs.

If you want your blog to be a success and look good too, then focus on putting videos, audios and pictures in your content writing. The way you find what your readers’ want is to Google the topic of your blog. If your blog is about dogs in general then Google “dogs”. If it is about a specific breed then Google that specific breed. You want to find the top ten web sites about your topic. Visit each one and see what they have as far as content. Do they have a blog? Do they have a forum? Join each and see what they are talking about. What questions are they asking? What problems are they having? Can you answer their questions or solve their problems? Be polite and give advice and then post those topics on your own blog.

After you have been helping people a few times then and only then may you be invited and welcomed to put your link to your blog. You need to spend some time and get to know the people and trends. You don’t want to start “pitching” your stuff on other peoples’ blogs and forums right away. That would be rude. You have to build up rapport. In other words be friendly and helpful so people start seeing you as an expert. They may start to ask your opinion about your topic. Then you will know you are a welcomed guest and will be allowed to post “or share” a link or two.

Tip: If they are asking for something you don’t have then you can sign up with Clickbank and become an affiliate for that product and grab your personal link. You can then answer the question on the blog or forum with that link because you would be helping them by reasearching the answer and getting the product link for them.

After you have worked your list of the top ten web sites, then go to the second page for the next top ten web sites to browse through and get blog ideas. Maybe something you haven’t thought of yet and can add to your own blog. It is usually on the second page that I find my prize nuggets of information, on my topic of interest to blog about. These are the web sites with the “real jewels” of core problems people are having and need help solving. Like that pee stain on the heirloom carpet your grandmother gave you. And you must get it out before she visits next week or you will have to get rid of the dog. These are also the web sites with the “good stories” and you may find them helpful in solving a few issues you may be having.

Always remember though to be helpful and curteous. And always, always remember to thank your readers and fellow bloggers for the tips! May God Bless and keep you always.

Re: Meta Tags Re: Meta Tags - [quote="ChrisH":tzc1bohg]I'm just curious what you all think -- - How important do you think meta tags are? If the content is keyword optimized and they are being used correctly (as per Google's current instructions) how important are meta tags?? Chris[/quote:tzc1bohg] Metatags were very important 10 years ago. Now, search engines are smarter... There are 2 very important things on your page: 1/ Page title: make sure to place some keywords in your title (avoid title like "welcome to my website, great information resource". You are wasting prime keyword real estate. 2/ Content. Content. Content. Content. Content. Oh, did I mention content?? Your content as to mention your main keywords several times. 3/ <h> and <b> tags are very important too. They tell search engines you emphasize these keywords.
Re: Best looking social networking site? Re: Best looking social networking site? - Hi Kevin [quote:3h76yt08]With so many social networking sites to pick and choose from, what influences your decision to join a particilar site? Is it just your friends, the content, people using it or looks??[/quote:3h76yt08] For me, the most essential criteria in selecting a Social Networking Site is its Content followed closely by popularity- in terms of daily visitors. Then comes the Content followed by the Friends and looks. Most of do social networking to attract traffic to their website(s) and as such the Content and Popularity of the site are important. btw, the list doesn't have digg or netscape or del.is.us which are the top social media sites.
Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - Hi David, I agree about the Blogosphere. You have a smaller group that Blog, but do so on the premise that they think they should, but have never really considered the purpose of their Blog. Then I think there are a few SEO or Internet Marketing types that see Blogging as just another link building strategy. But the largest group of Bloggers, tend to be people who enjoy writing and discussing their topics of interest. Blogging is good for link building, but the true Blogger is a breed apart from the rest. They want to dialog, to debate, to have feedback and they are very willing to link to other worthwhile conversations that are relevant to their topic. I agree with you. These group of Bloggers obviously are passionate about their writing and together, they create huge conversation trails interactive and travel from Blog to Blog. But the evidence is clear with this group that loves what they write about. With comments enabled on a Blog and having a Blog tuned to a specific purpose you already have the evidence of original Social Media.
