Healthy Competition between Work At Home Moms

Guest post by: Moon Loh

Article Overview: If you are a work at home mom starting out on a home business, it could be really rewarding to go in for some healthy competition with another fellow work at home mom. Instead of working alone and not having an idea of how far you can excel, competing with another work at home mom could give you a good idea of where you stand.

Healthy Competition between Work At Home Moms

Healthy competition will keep you motivated and help you to excel in whatever you have set out to do. Competition could really get you in the mood to give your best; if you are only competing with yourself, chances are that you may never exceed beyond what is expected of you. On the other hand, when you are competing with another work at home mom, you will give your best to go beyond expectations and give it your best shot.

Avoid unhealthy comparisons

While healthy competition is something that brings out the best in both competing parties, unhealthy comparison is something that should be avoided at all costs. As a work at home mom you are bound to compare yourself with others, particularly with more successful friends who are similarly working from home. For example, your friend could be in the same business as you and yet more successful. However natural it may be for you to compare yourself with others, always tell yourself that you are a unique individual with unique talents, and your home business is your individual effort, the results of which will show up in its own good time. Comparing yourself to others will only make you lose your focus on your work, and eventually lead to a negative state of mind.

See the real picture

When you compare yourself to others, all you get is an unrealistic picture. You don't really know the situation that the other person in. Your successful friend who is a great example of a work at home mom could be in a more convenient and comfortable position than you are in; she could have children who go to school, allowing her more of free time, whereas you could be mothering a toddler and have very less time on your hands. It is indeed very unfair to compare yourself to others when you could be in totally different situations. The main idea is to move ahead in your own life, and stop comparing yourself with others. Be proud of your achievements, irrespective of how small they may be, and motivate yourself to keep going ahead. As a work at home mom, you will have to manage your time and work hard at what you have set your heart on. Consistent effort and perseverance is sure to get you ahead.

Seeking advice of professionals

Instead of wasting time in unhealthy comparisons with other work at home moms, the better option is to look for experienced work at home moms who can give you the right advice. At times your own judgment may not be enough, and you may want to know where you exactly stand. Seeking an expert's opinion is always a good thing as it gives you a clearer picture of what you need to do next.

Take your time

Remember that a successful business is all about persistent effort and strong will. There will always be hurdles and difficulties; the secret behind any successful business is constant dedication. It is also important to not be too hard on yourself and push yourself with unrealistic goals and deadlines. The main idea is to take your time and do a good job.

While healthy competition is a good thing; unhealthy comparison is something that should be avoided as it leads you nowhere. Staying motivated and seeking the advice of a professional will stand you in good stead.
