Your kids love having you around

One of the best things about being a work at home mom is that you are always available for your family, especially during important occasions. Kids very much appreciate their moms to be around, particularly to share special moments such as their first basketball match or their first trip to the zoo. As a work at home mom you enjoy the flexibility to schedule your day in such a way that you get to spend quality time with your family. After all one of the main reasons of your opting out of a regular full time job is to devote time to your family, and being a work at home mom allows you to do exactly that. Although being a work at home comes with its downsides, the advantages are far more rewarding.

The demanding husband

While your kids enjoy having you around, your husband might be a little difficult every once in a while. Most husbands are proud of their wives who venture out to start their own independent home businesses. However, at times your husband could start wondering whether your decision to quit your regularly paid job was a good one. With cost of living on the rise and recession hitting the markets, your husband might question your decision to reduce the household income. Another problem could be your being available at home all the time, and yet you could be typing away a business proposal on your computer or talking to an important client. In a home ambience, your husband may not always understand your need to constantly devote time to your home business, especially during the initial phase. The good news is that there are ways of comforting your husband and helping him understand your situation as a work at home mom.

Ways to convince your spouse of your independent venture

If your husband does not clearly understand your need to start an independent home business, communicate your thoughts and feelings on the subject. Be very clear about your goals and dreams, and clearly explain why you have decided to quit your regular job for something more challenging and creatively satisfying. Make sure that you get the right message across. If your spouse still does not see your viewpoint, you can try telling him that you need some time to prove yourself- it could be a period of three months or even six months. Ask for this time to devote to your independent venture, failing which you will get back to a regular office job. Once you have clearly stated your reasons and given a time period to prove your success, you are sure to put your mind to your home business and get it to succeed.

Getting your family to support you

Communicating your passion and devotion to excel in your home business will greatly help in gathering your family's support. Tell your family how eager you are to spend time with them as well as take your work forward. Telling them of your dreams and hopes will help them understand your situation better. Communicate to them your eagerness to have them support you in your home business and that without their support you would feel like a ship without a rudder. Another way to get your family interested in your home business and support you is to get them involved in your home business. Discuss your business goals with them and ask for their opinions. Share your business achievements and targets with your family. Working from home also means getting your family involved and keeping them updated of the developments in your home business.

Getting family support is crucial for your career as a work at home mom. With the help of your family support and your determination to excel, you are sure to succeed in your independent home based business.
