1. Training. You can read the various threads that are already started and learn a tremendous amount about affiliate marketing.

If you have questions that you need answers to you can post them and then read the results. It is a great way to interact with other online marketers and learn at the same time.

2. Personal attention. Often times the owners of the forum will participate on a regular basis. You also have the benefit of interacting with experienced Internet marketers.

You can take a look at the number of posts the forum member has made to get an idea of their experience level. Many times people will also include their email address in their profile and you can contact them directly, or leave a message at the forum for them.

3. Sell in your sig file. This is one of the really big benefits participating in forum marketing offers.

You do not want to try to sell any of your products in any of the posts you make. That is frowned upon and is a good way to get banned from the forum.

What most forums will let you to do is create a signature file. You can think of this as a short classified ad where you tell a little bit about yourself or your products.

You can also hyperlink these by targeting keyword phrases and linking them back directly to your website URL. When you do it this way people can click directly on the words and be taken to any web page you want them to.

4. SEO links archived. Hyperlinking a targeted keyword phrase can give you good rankings for that phrase with various search engines.

Many forums will archive their threads and these can serve as long term backlinks to your website. In some instances search engines will rank the various threads in the results for a specific keyword phrase.

These backlinks can continue to give you traffic long after you have made the original post. You can also receive search engine traffic if the thread is archived and people click on it when they are searching for information on a search engine.

An affiliate forum offers many benefits to the participants. You can also receive valuable benefits for your Internet business when you do forum marketing the correct way.

Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Carol, Mary and David - thanks for your great input and insight on Affiliate Marketing! This is the kind of discussion I was hoping for in this thread. There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]

The Big Book of Small Business: You Don't Have to Run Your Business by the Seat of Your Pants, by Tom Gegax. Ditto. 3. PADI: The Business of Diving Book Okay, so this book won't be of use to anyone who doesn't want to start a scuba store, but I did, and this book was of course invaluable to me in reaching that goal.
Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - You made some very good points here Jeff and I agree with you, Affiliate Marketing should not be something that you concentrate all your efforts into. As i said earlier I have learned a lot with Affiliate Marketing and continue to do so, and it has helped me tremendously to understand what I am going to have to do in my chosen niche(s).
