Ways to Promote Your Business on Facebook

Recent reports show that Facebook now has around 500 Million members worldwide. If you are looking for ways to start a home business or promote your existing business you may be wondering how you can use Facebook to do this. In this article we will cover three different methods:

1) The Like Button

One easy way to incorporate Facebook into your current website business is to add the "Like" button to your website. When someone visits your website, if they are a Facebook member they can simply click on the Like button to show that they like your web page. This is very powerful as it will show up on their Facebook wall area along with a link and there is the potential for some of their Facebook friends to see this link and click it out of curiosity. If a large number of people click the Like button on your site this can go viral and result in lots of new visitors from Facebook.

2) Facebook Ads

Facebook ads can be set up as pay per click ads or pay per impression ads, but they are different from most PPC ads as they incorporate a picture. When you setup an ad in Facebook, you can choose the demographics of the people that you want to show the ad to. This is huge as you can narrow down your target audience based on their age, sex, where they live, what their interests are and much more. This means that these ads are many times more targeted than Google Adwords can ever be.

The image you use in your ad is very important and you should be sure to choose something extremely eye catching, but obviously related to your ad. If you choose the pay per click method the price you pay for your ad will vary based on how successful your ad is - the higher the CTR (click through rate), the lower your cost per click.

Before setting up an ad in Facebook be sure to read their terms of service as there are certain types of products that they don't allow you to promote, including MLM opportunities. It is also worth participating in some training such as Facebook Cash Generator as it is very easy to lose money on Facebook if you don't know what you are doing!

3) Facebook Fan Pages

If you are a member of Facebook you can setup as many different Fan Pages as you wish. These are completely separate from your personal page and they allow you to promote a business, a website, a cause, a place or pretty much anything.

Your Fan page can contain lots of information about your business including the website URL, the address and telephone number, the products you sell, photos relating to your business or website, news updates and much more. If someone clicks the Like button on your page, they become a "Fan" and their Like shows up on their wall for all their friends to see.

Re: How can I promote my site? Re: How can I promote my site? - Now days there are number of video channels like YouTube and even you can start posting your videos on social media sites like Facebook. Promote your website on Social media websites like Facebook, Twitter where you will get Hugh number of quality visitors.
Re: Twitter vs Facebook Re: Twitter vs Facebook - I use Facebook pages for Business and rarely ever use Twitter. I hace lost count of the no. of Hotels that I have visited, regarding their marketing campaigns, that may have 5k Facebook Fans and only 100 followers on Twitter. It is a lot more difficult to engage with people on Twitter and thus harder to gain traction. If you are a business like Nike, then Twitter is great, but if you are an SME, then focus on Facebook or LinkedIn (if you are providing a professional service.) You can always have your Facebook feed directly in to Twitter, so you can have a presence on both, but do the work on one. Also check out ping.fm for managing campaigns - it is a free tool, and a great time saver.

Facebook and Business Facebook and Business - While on the Elevator today I read that MySpace and Facebook are surpassing adult-sites in traffic volumes - just thought that was interesting fact. As far as your business is concerned I think that having a Facebook account is viable as long as you keep it business and the most important thing to increase your traffic would be to link up with people well-known in your business-circle. e.g. if your were in the Marketing Business Circle I would link up with people like Dan Kennedy, Mike Filsame, Yanik Silver etc. People linked up with them will now start pouring into your content.
Re: Social media question Re: Social media question - Facebook is where I get all my traffic. Facebook is great, because you can create fan pages and your customers come to you. Twitter is good, but I just don't see the same results. I think Facebook is the most popular and it's easier for people to find what they're looking for.
