Backlinking is the only way to get your traffic to move up the search engines so you can receive targeted and consistent free traffic. There are some backlink producing methods that work and some that don\'t work too well. The following is a brief guideline on the four most effective link building strategies today. The best backink that you can get is a contextual anchor link on a high PR page (not website). This means that an anchor link inside of the pages content will work the best to give your page that you are linking to, the biggest boost in link juice.

In order to get an article with your links on a high PR page you will either need to find a guest author opportunity or you will need to buy a few high PR domains that you are free to post and link as you please. Just one high PR anchor link can have a far better result than 100 of links coming from any of the backlink strategies below.

You also want to make sure that you are varying your links as much as possible. Article marketing is a great way to do this. When you write an article, you can submit that article to a variety of article directories and leave your links in the author\'s resource box at the end of the article. Consistent articles on different article directories are the best ways to make this work.

Another very effective strategy to pick up links is through press releases. A well written press release has the opportunity to go viral and get picked up by many media outlets. When it does, it will naturally spread your links around the internet and increase your pages position in the search engines.

Last but not least, and a much easier way to pick up back links is to do blog commenting. Blogs like WordPress, Typepad and Blogger offer a way for their blog visitors to contribute and comment on the content of the blog. When you do, you are able to leave a link to wherever you want. The key to make this work is to make sure that when you do comment, that you are leaving an intelligible remark that the moderator is sure to approve.

These are just four very effective link building strategies that you can start using right away to gain more traffic to your website. Remember, the most effective backlinking strategy is to mix and match all of the strategies above and to pick up links on a consistent basis.
