You are considering an on-line home based business and are facing challenges while making your decision, right? It can certainly be a daunting task to say the least. You already know that you are committed to changing your life for you and your family but need some strategies to help you determine which one is best for you.

I researched my options for almost a month before making a decision or investing in any company. Some people may not take as long to decide depending on whether or not they know someone who has shared proven results. Others may take longer. There is no particular time line that is right or wrong it is ultimately when you decide YOU are ready.

Criteria and Questions

1. Is the company credible?You will find articles and testimonials on every business that you are considering that claim "it's a scam". You need to delve past that and research further. You have to dig deeper. Find out how long the company has been in business, 4 to 6 years is a sufficient amount of time to have adequate data for you to look at while making your decision. Check to see if there are any free trainings, calls or webinars with the company you may be considering. Take advantage of them before making your decision. There should be no hidden agenda or surprises. Finding a company that is totally transparent is what you want.
2. Does this company offer products and or services that are needed in the marketplace?Use what you already know to help guide you and think of what you and your family need. While researching options, consider what is happening in the world around us and how the products or services will benefit others. Learn about the support that is offered for you and your potential customers. You'll want to have a community of leaders around you that you can count on.
3. Is the product/service unique?Consider a company that offers something different from the others so your business will stand out above the rest. As you establish your business, you will be adding your own personal branding to compliment your new partnership adding even more value.
4. What compensation is available?You will encounter during your research a vast array of income claims. Think of the financial goals you have for yourself and family, then think bigger than that! I personally started out with the goal of making 3x my annual income as an elementary teacher.That is actually a modest goal if you find a company that provides a way to leverage and has residual income streams. I love to make money while I sleep and I especially love knowing that my hard work now will continue to provide income in years to come for my family. With additional income comes additional ways to give back to our global family as well.
5. Is timing right?Look for evidence to find out if the company you are considering is good to get into right now. It is helpful to know their business plan and mission for the future. For awhile I can honestly say that I followed the doom and gloom fear filled crowd, living my days full of worry. There are so many opportunities now because of the hard economic times. When making your business choice feel confident in the research you have done. Believe in yourself to take control of your life, roll up your sleeves and make it happen!

Working for yourself does not automatically mean success, fame and fortune. For most entrepreneurs, it takes much work and dedication to get to the point of financial success and comfort - sometimes years. But the benefit is, again, you know you are investing in yourself and building equity for your own future. GT :-]

The Best Business Books Ever: The 100 Most Influential Business Books You'll Never Have Time to Read - this is a fascinating book about the history of Business theory, and I'd recommend it to anybody. 2. The Big Book of Small Business: You Don't Have to Run Your Business by the Seat of Your Pants, by Tom Gegax. Ditto. 3. PADI: The Business of Diving Book Okay, so this book won't be of use to anyone who doesn't want to start a scuba store, but I did, and this book was of course invaluable to me in reaching that goal.
