How Do You Sell A Home Based Business?
Most home based businesses involve not only selling a product but the business itself. It may be a one-time referral commission or a repeat stream of income on a monthly basis. I'm sure most would agree a combination of the 2 would be the preferred. The better & more realistic the opportunity, the more likely you are to sell. But how do you get someone to buy? Resonate, Differentiate, & Substantiate...
Resonate means your prospects have to want & need what you are trying to sell them. You are not trying to convince people to buy but rather communicate the benefits & results related to your quality product. As in any successful business, the quality of the product has to be present. Quality is very important because you are after repeat business, not just a one-time sale. Even if it is a single sale, business by way of referral is just as important. When quality is there, what are the benefits & results? Why will someone choose your business over another? It may be increased freedom, a more relaxed schedule, better quality of life, ability to spend more time with family & friends, etc... These could also be thought of as rewards. Everyone wants more time to do the activities they enjoy. Business opportunities that provide these results should be easier to sell. After all, why would someone want to be on the road for a couple hours a day when they could be at home.
Differentiate - how do you stand out from the competition & as a result, how are you better? This again stems from the quality of the business. Do things not only better but much better than your competition and you have true value. There are many good products out there, but yours needs to be great! Know your competition, effectively communicate your differences & it should be relatively easy to attract people once you get their attention. Now it just comes down to marketing. We don't need to let people know the weaknesses of other companies, just the strengths of ours. There is a wealth of information out there and people are smarter than ever before. Have a solid product with a better opportunity & people will find you.
Substantiate by delivering on promises. Having a really good product that separates you from the competition is one thing, having people believe & trust you is another. What comes with a great opportunity may also be a little skepticism. People may claim to "have heard it all" and truthfully, if they've had a poor experience before, you can't blame them. If this is the case, even more the opportunity to differentiate your-self by substantiating results. Provide solutions to problems that are realistic & make sense. Provide case studies, references, testimonials and videos. Back your actions with other peoples stories & your words with others' results.
There are more people than ever before looking to start a home based business. Provide quality, differentiate & substantiate the business, and you will provide prospects with an opportunity that not only makes sense, but is real!
