What exactly is a domain name?

• A name that you would like your web address to identify yourself.
• The first thing that people think about you.
• This is a name that brands you, make it something about your site, your product or service. Having a name that matches your brand is Very Important.
• Keep it short, the shorter the better.
• Don't invent words. I recommend going with a combination of words that already mean something.
• How about dashes or numbers? The problem is that dashes and numbers are not as easy for customers to remember. People are more likely to write your domain name without dashes or numbers, and then possibly even end up on your competitor's site.
• Make it easy for yourself to give to others. You want to KEEP IT SIMPLE.
• Make sure you get a name with a com extension as they are more popular than the rest.
• Only one person or entity may register a given name.
• Domain names are also selected for search engine optimization ( SEO) purposes.

How to Register your Domain Name?

There are a number of places to register this. The Most popular is godaddy, they offer names starting at $9.99, another choice is quickdomains, but there are many others to choose from just do a Google search or use one that I have listed here for you. Go and create an account and start your search.

Type the name that you would like to use into the search box, if it is available, buy it. If not they will give you some suggestions by using their search tools to find some variations of the name you chose Just keep on trying, you will eventually come up with one that you can use. I suggest you buy that name right away otherwise be faced with losing it to someone else.

I have heard of others trying to register their name with a free websites. I would not recommend this because their services are typically unreliable. Since it is a free service they really do not care if your website is up and running or not. Nothing is worse than spending hours creating and promoting a website and then have it disappear.

Registering your Domain Name with a registrar is the only way to make sure you are the owner.

I would also suggest that you now open a new e-mail account with the same name. This is a great way to get started with your new business. Did you know that 95% of network marketers who register a domain name put very little thought into the selection process.

Owning your own domain name is the fastest easiest and cheapest way to increase the branding of yourself. Let me put it this way, in network marketing or in any business, you are selling yourself. By having your own domain name you are now able to brand yourself, track your advertising, and to make sure that any of your prospects are making it to your own personal page instead of someone else's.

Though you will need to design and upload your site yourself.
