The First Ten Steps to Success
The first ten steps to success by Adrian Tea Brown. How do you define success? This thing called success is personal and subjective. Success is making plans for your life and knowing how and when you have accomplished your goals. Success is to work harder on yourself than you do on your job with steady progress towards your goals. Success is not to be pursued; it is to be attracted by the person you become.
Every step you take will either take you closer to or further away from you dreams. Every step is easy to take or easy not to take. It is either a step up or step down. Here are the first ten steps to success to get you faster results in accomplishing your dreams as a successful person with influence and fame and credibility and happiness and….
1 Passion: If you want to find joy, meaning and fulfillment in your life, Be passionate about your purpose. Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion. Be very sure about your purpose, what were you place on this earth to do. You are not here by chance or accident, you are here for a purpose. My purpose is to make a positive difference in the lives of other who ask for help to find answers and solutions for physical, spiritual, emotional and financial needs. Find your purpose and pursue it with a passion.
2 Work: Work hard on your attitude. For your life to change your attitude have to change. It's all hard work. Nothing good comes easily "All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence" Martin Luther King, Jr. Work SMART and believe in yourself. There is no greater trust than the trust you place in God and on yourself. There is no substitute for hard work, developing yourself every day. Don't ask for life to be easier, ask for you to be better.
3. Good, Put your nose down into something and get real good at it. Practice, practice and more practice. Repetition is the mother of all skills; rehearsal is the father of all learning. We can't memorize without repeating, and we can't repeat without memorizing. Whatever discipline you're talking about, be it sport, arts or music, a lot of research has shown that the best performing experts practice more than their less able colleagues. Entrepreneurs seem to be more quickly frustrated and throwing in the towel these days when they do not see their big ideas turn into a sustainable business overnight.
Most people don’t realize that it takes practice to develop their skills to build a business under the best of circumstances, and today’s world of instant gratification doesn’t leave room for the patience and practice to develop these skills. Building a business is a complex task, like building the product or service, and requires the same focus, discipline, and practice every day to get it right.
4 Focus. It all has to do with focusing yourself with one thing at a time. You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. Although as human beings we are created in a three fold dimension of body, mind and spirit, we operate as one unit with laser beam focus on a path to take us to our goals. In this fast moving hyperactive world where our attention is interrupted once every ten minutes, it’s easy to conclude that as important as focus is, it is beyond our grasp.
But with practice and self development we can get both the methods and the know-how we need to overcome easy excuses and make focus a competitive advantage for accomplishing our dreams. "One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular." Mark Twain. "When you focus on being a blessing, God makes sure that you are always blessed in abundance." Joel Osteen.
5 Push, Push yourself physically and mentally, you have to push yourself through shyness, self-doubt and unbelief. Dream big, set your goals and work hard and push yourself to achieve them, because nothing good in life comes easy. Work on your credibility, fair-play, honest and integrity, because each of these will help you achieve your goals. Never stop pushing and learning, no matter how difficult it is. Always do everything the best you can. And learn from your mistakes and be willing to push yourself a little more.
6 Serve. Look for every opportunity to serve others. Only a life lived in the service to others is worth living. Service takes many forms. Service can also mean thinking about how we can use our own positions to help others, especially in these times of economic uncertainty. The surest way to achieve personal success, is to go out and serve others. By service to others, I mean unselfish kindness and generosity, acts that validate your good fortune, that give meaning to your lives and, above all, that sustain and dignify the lives of others. To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity.
7 Ideas. If you are going to make a difference in people's lives, you must listen, observe, be curious, ask questions and be able to solve the problems that people struggle with. I believe everyone has a life story to share and no matter how ordinary you are, there are people that can benefit from your beliefs, values, and experiences. Make connections with successful people who share common ideas and piggy-back on their success.
8 Persist. The number one reason for success. Persistence is probably one of the most admirable characters a person can possess, because without it you are doomed to fail. The road to success is not easy, the truth is, it’s challenging, this is why only few complete the journey. There will be countless times you will be face with failures and defeats staring you in the face that if you are weak, you’ll be succumbing to negative thoughts of fears and doubts. To be persistent, always maintain a positive mental attitude, regardless of the situation. Keep your thoughts focused on taking action towards your goals. Avoid negative thoughts and feelings for it will ruin your concentration and commitment.
9 Prayer. Never lose your connection with your God. You can do more than pray after you have prayed; but you can never do more than pray until you have prayed. Some people pray just to pray and some people pray to know God. Always respond to every impulse to pray. The impulse to pray may come when you are reading or when you are battling with a text. I would make an absolute law of this – always obey such an impulse. The late great John Wesley said " God does nothing except in response to believing prayer".
10 Mistakes. Learn from the mistakes of others. Do not brood over your past mistakes and failures as this will only fill your mind with grief, regret and depression. Do not repeat them in the future. Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit. If you have never made a mistake then you have never tried anything new. All of us make mistakes, but only the wise learn from the mistakes of others.
Don't limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind will take you. Remember, what you believe you can achieve. The first ten steps to success is simple but profound. Your success starts with taking action with the right tools to generate guaranteed predictable results.
