How Specialty Chemicals Contributes to US Energy Independence

Desk ofBo Burch Despite the tremendous federal deficit, the political turbulence in North Africa / Middle East and the rising costs of food and energy, the US and the Global economy continue to show significant signs of improvement and resilience across many sectors. For the month of March, nonfarm payroll jobs grew by 216,000, the national unemployment rate dropped to 8.8% and the two previous months jobs report were revised upward.

Sincemy last E-tip publication in February, we seea continued demand forservices inthree divisions - Energy Power Generation, Life Sciences and Multinational Lean Manufacturing.

We recently recognized a Global Private Equity Group in New York that neededsupport for their proliferation as the world's leading manufacturer and supplier of specialty electrolyte materials for lithium ion battery and energy storage applications, high performance solvents and other specialty chemicals such as specialty lithium salts for lithium batteries. The business serves a broad range of end-use products requiring highly functional electrolytes for applications in consumer electronics, telecommunications, military, medical, aerospace, ultra capacitors, grid storage and electric transportation vehicles.

Clean Technology is an exciting place to play and add value assearch firms mustbecome more and more a strategic and aglobal recruiting partner dedicated to thought leadership in research and development. The old paradigm of specialty and fine chemicals is now changing as the demand pull for cleaner technologies is becoming more and more prevalent and real. We believe the Cleantech industry will grow at multiples of GDP for years to come as consumers and producers alike work together to deplete our reliance and dependence on foreign oil.

We are encouragingleading search firms tostrategically lead the way in Cleantech and we should seecontinued partnerships with additional companies who have a vision for exceptional leadership and technical talent to accomplish US energy independence.

Re: Will North America make carbon taxes anytime soon? Re: Will North America make carbon taxes anytime soon? - Well I recently started to work at a solar company in Ontario, and business is booming. The Ontario government is doing a great deal since passing the Green Energy Act. This is where the government is buy the energy you produce. 80 cents for kwh. A lot of people in Ontario are putting up solar panels on their roofs, and feeding back the grid green energy.
New McDonalds McCafe concept... New McDonalds McCafe concept... - Has anyone experienced the new coffee concept at McDonalds yet? (Doesn't seem to be in my town in NJ yet). If you have; what do you think about it? (see info below) Americans soon will be able to order a latte with their side of fries at McDonald's restaurants, as the fast food chain initiates coffee bar buildouts at most of its sites around the country. A spokeswoman for the chain's Southwest region said select restaurants in the region will get McCafé coffee shops prior to the national rollout, which is expected in the first half of 2009. McDonald's restaurants in the Louisville, Ky. area were among the first to test market the McCafé Specialty Coffee line. Several Louisville-area McDonald's owner-operators are now planning renovations to add coffee bars, which will serve cappuccinos, lattes, mochas and baked foods. McDonald's expanded its coffee and beverage options with the launch of its premium roast coffee in 2006. About 80 percent of McDonald's 13,700 U.S. restaurants are independently owned and operated by local franchisees.
