The prospective employer is investing a great deal of time and expense to recruit qualified candidates and is entitled to this bit of information. The ethical thing to do would be to explain your situation during the interview process. If you’re the best candidate, they will likely work something out during your compensation negotiations. If you don’t make a full disclosure and they do make an offer, it will not sit well when you tell them about your plans. They might even withdraw the offer. Worse yet, if you wait until after you’ve started working, you might be viewed as “sneaky”, not to be trusted, and it could impact your future with that company. Why don’t you wait until after your vacation to begin your job search? If you have the option, I would encourage you to stay with your current employer until after your vacation.
