Thought: • There are big Ps (Politics) which equate to the politics of Congress, major corporations, etc. • There are also little Ps which equates to the environment in which you work. Both are important.

Politcal Savvy Tips for Work
Political savvy can be defined as applying subtle and ethical methods of gaining power or a competitive edge. It means
- Using the totality of one's skills for successfully navigating the political dynamics of an organization to accomplish one's goals.
- Understanding what you can and cannot control, when to take action, who is going to resist your agenda, and whom you need to get on your side.
- It means mapping out the political terrain and getting others to side, as well as leading coalitions
- Understanding how people operate on the job (strategies and motives involved).
- Networking
- Relationship building
- Team involvement
- Persuasive communication
- Know the culture and values of your organization
- Learn who has power: formal and informal
- See the world through your boss's eyes
- Pat attention to your professional image
- Be flexible and ask for feedback
- Pay attention to your image
- Find a mentor
- Practice "random acts of kindness"
