You don't believe it? If you want to avoid dementia, including the
dreaded Alzheimer's disease - specifically reduce the risk up to
60% - Dr. Yaacov Stern, professor at College of physicians and
Surgeons, Columbia University, says start to create a Cognitive
Reserve in your brain.
You are going to live into your nineties - if you watch out for
Mack Trucks and public buses. The idea according to Dr. Stern
is to enjoy longevity in positive mental health.
More than 50% of those who reach their 80s experience one
form or another of brain dementia. fMRIs show brain plaque
and neurological tangles causing loss of memory and mental
organization.
And
Your assignment, if you accept it Mister Phipps, is to avoid
Alzheimer and other lethal forms of craziness.
Wait - you can start today, and it is fine, but do not wait
until you pass the point of no return. Best option is to
start young and continue to be a Lifelong learner into your
senior years.
How
You need to plan to read books, articles, and reports to keep your
mind active and stimulated on a daily basis. Those who enjoy
word games, bridge, Jeopardy on-tv, and interact socially in
healthy relationships, create a Cognitive-Reserve.
Lifelong learning, an engaging occupation, leisure activities that
present you with discoveries, reduce your risk of Alz. It has been
scientifically researched that you can add more health neurons
and neural circuits and networks by the choices you make.
Watching tv for up to 8 hours daily is not conducive to learning.
If you are a student - stay in school to graduate. Half of those
starting college never graduate, and this reduces their opportunity
to increase Cognitive-Reserve. The greater your formal education,
the larger supply of Cognitive-Reserve you build. Continuing education
and taking On-Line courses in your 60-70s will increase your connected
synapses and neural networks. What have you learned lately?

Palindrome
Words, phrases, and sequences that can be read backwards, as well
as forward are labeled Palindromes. The ancient Greeks figured it
out. Back+Direction in Greek produces the word palindrome.
Like What
Racecar backward is still racecar. How about the Eskimo boat -
kyak? Level - civil - rotor and rotator are good examples of palindromes.
My Favorites
Did you know there are words speeded backward that create a totally different
word?
Check this out: Evil into L-i-v-e! How about Lived turns into Devil!
Star into Rats! Stop backward spells - Pots! Spit into Tips. Maps becomes
the dreaded Spam! My all-time favorite is God spelled in reverse produces -
Dog! Extras to win bets - War is Raw, Diaper is Repaid (with a clean one).
Wait! Stressed becomes Desserts!
Is there a name for these reversals?
"Semordnilaps" is Palindrome spelled backwards. That is the name for it.
Finally, there is one for Speed Reading: Deeps + Gnidaer, uh, never mind that one.
Endwords:
If you really want to live with all your marbles into advance longevity, you
require Cognitive-Reserve. Question: Would it make you more competitive
to read and remember three-times faster - books, articles, and reports,
compared to your peers who can hardly finish one?
Would you like to enjoy your last 25 years, instead of requiring a keeper?
The proforma answer is: Get Cognitive-Reserve by becoming a Lifelong
learner. Like to bet on a Sure-Thing? Ask-us-how and begin now.
