Do you know your organization’s “Execution Quotient”?
“Execution Quotient” or “xQ” for short – measures the gap between an
organization’s goals and how well it achieves them. It’s like measuring
the organization’s IQ for achieving results. Why do so many
organizations find it difficult to execute their strategies and achieve
results? Harris Polling surveyed 2.5 million workers to ask about this
and they found the following shocking results:
- 22% of workers understand their organization’s goals
- 10% of workers said their teams have clear, measurable, deadline driven work goals
- 17% of workers said their teams try and solve problems creatively
- 15% of workers said their teams have trusting “win-win” environments
- 15% of workers said their teams have resources and freedom to do the job
So what can organizations do to become better at executing their
plans and get results? The answer: get serious and apply the following
eight steps:
- Create a sense of urgency in the organization about the need to change
- Form a powerful guiding coalition to guide the change
- Create a vision for the organization
- Communicate the vision to everyone who needs to know it
- Empower employees to act on the vision
- Plan for and create short-term wins and celebrate them
- Consolidate improvements and produce more change
- Institutionalize new approaches in the organization’s culture
Some organizations have the determination and
grit to go through
this process by themselves but many need the help of an external coach
to guide them. This is like having a personal trainer at the gym or a
golf
coach to improve your swing. So if your organization is not
getting the results it desires take a look at your organization’s
“xQ”—it just might be the wake-up call you need to set the change
process in motion!

From the inside cover:
"As a woman, you probably feel uncomfortable when it comes to promoting yourself and asking for what you want."
WHAT IN THE HECK IS THIS, I asked myself when I read that. Women are the fastest growing business owners in the US and Canada, there are t housands of women executives and CEOs - though not as many as might be expected, admittedly, yet the book opens with this surely out of date stereotype.
However, as she continued to give examples of women who had high paying jobs but were routinely not paid as much as men because it hadn't occurred to them to ask for raises, etc., I decided it was probably true for a majority of businesswomen...
Anyway, more of the info from the jacket:
"Other books have told you how to get what you want by being more like a guy. Pitch Like A Girl tells you why its an advantage to be who you are and how to do better by bringing more of yourself to work."

New member intro
- Hello everyone,
I am a newbie here:) I don't have my own business yet, but owning a business is a big dream of mine. I am passionate about marketing and non-profit organizations, so I would love to combine my passions together and help non-profit organizations grow, promote themselves and become self-sufficient.
I wanted to start with my business right away when I graduated from school last year. However when I started working in different companies and organizations, I learned so much about teamwork, dealing with different personalities and work style, and project management. Needless to say I decided to gain more experience in the field, and that's pretty much why I am here!
I am excited to interact with all of you in the forums. I hope that I learn a lot from your experiences and expertise, as well share my own with you.
Best,:D

Re: What is needed to start & Market a Tree Removal / Recycling
- Hi,
Thanks for your response...you are very correct with the company would need to be very careful with what they put into the environment. With that said, I have a feeling that the many organization with some strong financial backing have researched & attempted to fix the situation.
My research shows the only real solution currently is an extremely cold winter that will kill them off. I am not saying that a private company could not come up with a solution these organizations (probably government based) have tried...but chances are they will need to spend a lot of money to do so.
So instead of focusing on a cure (since organizations are already doing that) I want to know how a company could profit from the removal of the trees. Not just the removal of the trees and burning them in some land full...but I am looking to find if anyone knows of any high profit industry's that the this company could get into once they have all these trees they removed.
I am also looking to know if anyone has worked with the U.S. Government before in National Forest Regions to see if this idea is a lost cause...not even sure if the government would let a private company in.
