Don’t Subtract the ADDIE
All HR professionals should know about the ADDIE model - particularly
those involved with employee training and development. ADDIE stands
for:
- Analysis/Assessment
- Design
- Development
- Implementation
- Evaluation
Analysis/ Assessment
- Why is the training initiative being considered?
- What level of subject matter knowledge and skill do employees possess?
- What level do they need?
- What and where are the performance gaps?
- Where, when, and how should the gaps be addressed?
- What are the outcome objective?
- What are the learning methodologies to be used?
- What is the time frame?
- Who needs to sign off on the final product?
- Who are the subject matter experts and will they contribute?
- Who will ensure the integrity of the instructional design?
- What elements need to be developed (instructor guide? handouts? print? etc.)
- Who will do the training?
- Who will train the trainers?
- What is the likely resistance to the training and how will it be overcome?
- What support staff and resources do we need to schedule and organize the training?
- What metrics will be tracked and how do they relate to the learning objectives?
- Who will track them and where will they be stored (do you need a learning management system?)
- Who needs to see the evaluation?
- What decisions will be made on the basis of the evaluation?
